Pay the premium for a BLRO?

So I've been on waiting for a SS BLRO since last December from my AD.
And yes...I have a purchase history. About 5 watches in the last few years.

Would any of you pay the current premium for the BLRO or hold out until the AD comes though. Looks like prices have dropped some but I don't think grey prices will ever be close to retail...

Been considering a BB GMT as an alternative...but each time I look at it I know it won't be what I really want.

Thoughts?

Just keep on them, every so often drop them a message reminding them you're still looking. Depending on how good your relationship is this can help.

I think prices mag come down a bit more... If you are able to I'd add the BB GMT and then later once prices come down a bit more snatch the BLRO.

I purchased mine via grey end of last year as I was done with the AD bullshit, and I had a purchase history of 7 watches. I’m happy with my decision. Seeing the prices drop now slightly annoys me but no regrets. Amazing watch.

I'd hold out. The grey price seems to be falling. As the grey price drops, they'll clear out the wait list at the AD. Less incentive to flip.

My opinion is that you should probably wait. Because of stimulus, bailouts, the federal reserve propping up the stock market and just a general sense of optimism for a rapid v-shaped economic recovery, grey market prices have stabilized for now. I personally expect grey prices to go lower in the coming months and/or your AD will come through.

My gf thinks I should get the Tudor, but hold out for when my AD calls to get that too!

Chances are with my luck, I'll get the Tudor and the next week get the call from my AD. It happened in 2018 with my 114060 and 116610LN

Consumer confidence is going to come back for a long time...this is just the beginning. I would, and am, just waiting to buy from an AD.

If you really want it and can afford it buy it. MSRP is a concept not an absolute. I suspect many who complain about the morality of after market prices are really complaining about their inability to afford one. Life today is precarious why not splurge if you are in a position to do so.

Mr. (Mrs.?) Cornerstore repeats an opinion often stated here. It's not wrong. Do you want to spend $9250 for a new watch? That's a lot of money. Would you be willing to spend $14,000 for that same watch? That's a decision that only you can make.

Sounds like you have the funds, so I would recommend buying the tutor GMT now (preferably from the same A.D.). For what you pay for tutor, that is just about the difference in grey pricing. With this strategy, you can now enjoy the tutor And, then you can buy the BLRO from your A.D. at retail (when available). Then, you could sell your tutor if you still want to do so but i would wait. I have the tutor GMT and a 5 digit pepsi. I much Prefer wearing the tutor GMT for what it’s worth. If you ended up feeling the same way as me, you could always then sell the BLRO and, essentially, keep the tutor for free.

Don't disregard the Tudor Black Bay GMT! Spectacular watch in so many ways. I've been waiting over 3 years for a Rolex Pepsi. Purchased a Batman last summer followed by the incredible Tudor GMT. The Tudor gets most of my wrist time! I've got a Pepsi, and it's a Tudor!

No worries. I'm sure the Fed will announce in the morning they're now buying oil, along with every other asset. Party on!

The tudor + MSRP would put you right around current market price of the BLRO so wouldn't be the worst thing.

There is no harm in waiting right now as I'm sure it wouldn't go up.

It's up to the person's own financial situation and how much they want the watch to determine whether right now is the best time for them.

I doubt the prices will return to retail value so I say purchase when you feel the price is best suited for you, if not, wait for your AD to allocate you one.

I wouldn’t pay a premium for anything these days.

Oil is at -$1.50 a barrel.

I've been on my ADs wait list since the BLRO was released at Basel two years ago and refuse to pay a 50% premium! I'm hoping I might get the call soon if enough VIPs ahead of me pass on it!

I wouldn't but that means nothing here because I'd never pay above list for anything.

Negative US oil now - that means they’ll pay you to take oil away !

Anyone who pays above MSRP now is going to be kicking themselves over the next few months.

Definitely wait it out. Sub prices are already hovering close to MSRP.

We are nowhere near the end of this coronavirus mess and no one knows how it will play out but it is not looking good for the consumer discretionary sector...

I wouldn’t pay a premium. I’m sure the greys are hanging together to keep prices up. But soon one is going to have to blink. There’s so many of these watches out there.

Don't pay the premium. I bought the BB GMT from my ad to "hold me over". 2 weeks later my ad called me with the 126710BLRO.

The tudor? I highly doubt that is going to satisfy you. Why would you buy a watch that is not what you desire, and certainly not your first choice, to satisfy a short-lived, if at all, stitch when you are going to continue yearning for the b l r o?! In the end, you are actually going to make this even more costly for yourself. That is, you are going to lose a few thousand dollars buying a Pepsi tudor, which you are going to want to get rid of at a later time, for the Pepsi GMT. I recommend you don't take that route.

On the money with this!

There's no guarantees that the market is going to drop enough to bring the BLRO near retail. If you are in position to buy & want to enjoy the watch now, why not?
