Do you like this dial?

It's malachite, a green mineral.

This 1973 Datejust 1601 is an extremely rare model, as making a stone sphere is not easy as it is subject to many defects.

What do you think? Would you like to see a modern Datejust or a Day Date with malachite spheres?

Not all that rare just made in smaller numbers and not everyone's cup of tea.

I agree; It's cool because it's rare, I guess, but I wouldn't spend any money on something I don't like.

Not for me, mostly because there's nothing on it that allows you to somewhat accurately tell time.

Possibly one of few dials where diamonds would fit ... overall I don’t see it appealing at all ... but as already quoted it may have customers too

No. I think the green is ugly and do not like the face without markings. You asked!

For some reason I like the Malachite on a Ladies DJ better than the men's. A little goes a long way, IMO, so it plays better on a smaller dial.

I like it a lot - I’ve been hoping to find a no-markers factory malachite dial DD myself. The stone does seem a little bit paler than other Rolex malachite dials I’ve seen, but that may be just the photos.

Hell yeah that's malachite. When in Russia I saw an entire church made of it. Omega released a new gold seamaster with malachite dial. Definitely pulling the trigger once it's half price in a couple years

It’s very different, and I appreciate it.

But wouldn’t want to own it.
