Date Change Problem. Sub Steel/Gold Sub 116613LB
Hi All.
I have noticed that the date only half moves to the next date at about 12.10, and only finally flips to the next day at about 4.30. I have stopped the watch and wound hands around, and it keeps doing the same. Half moves to next date at 12.10, and only finally gets to the next date at 4.30 ish. I pulled crown one notch out and half moved the date to next day, then the date wheel slipped back to todays date, then i pulled out crown to stop watch and wound hands and it fully flipped to next date at 12.10. Whats wrong with it ? Is it just a bit out of kilter and anyone experienced this before ? I'm guessing a service will sort it out. Watch is about 7 years old, not yet serviced. Keeps good time, so i am loathed to get it done. |

Sounds like it's time for a service. It's usual for the date to change either slightly before or after midnight, but it should change 'instantaneously' and not take several hours to do so. I was going to suggest manually cycling through several days to see if this sorts it out, but sounds like you've already tried this.

Quite frankly, I'm wondering if the watch is genuine
Was it bought new from a Rolex AD? Has the watch always changed the date progressively? Assuming the watch is genuine, the simple solution is to send it in for an overdue service |

This is a fairly common issue, date jumper could be bent due to forcing, or oil migrated to a place where it shouldn't be. It is especially common in 15×× and 30×× calibers. |

Happened to me on a watch with the 3135. It was under warranty. RSC fixed it.

Happened to mine about 3 years ago although the timekeeping was suffering too. Sent it for a service and it's been fine since.

I have had a similar issue before. I manually cycled through about 10 days and went back and set it and it worked as designed.

Date change 116613lb
I experienced this problem with my first Bluesy I am convinced that in my haste to quickset the date I did not allow the crown to pop out-as a result this resulted with the watch totally seizing up!
RSC cured it under warranty and subsequently ever since with my present Bluesy I am ever so cautious now......! |

I never knew of the phenomenon even after a good many years of multiple Rolex ownership covering the very calibers you mention. As a result, the progressive date change over a number of hours always seemed to me to be one of those things associated with other brands of movements and the OP doesn't provide all the relevant background of the watch. thanks to everyone for their comments.
I've cycled through the date a few times, and it seems better for the time being. i'll keep an eye on it. Any ideas when RSC is due to open in UK ? Do we ever get any Rolex employees on this forum or do the company ban them from getting involved in speculation ? |

If the watch was otherwise perfectly operational I'd be tempted to persevere until something serious goes. I'd definitely make sure it couldn't be cured by cycling the date a few times. I've heard about sticking date wheels happening just after being freshly serviced because of oil - no big deal. 7 yrs is nothing in Rolex years. I am a frugal tight fisted bastard.

I don't know about RSC but I have an Omega waiting to go to the Swatch Service Centre in Southampton. They are sending out the insured packaging to send in watches once they re-open and in order of enquiries. I'd try and call or e-mail the RSC in case they have a similar waiting system. |
