Successful trade?

I noticed once in a while some would post for trade ads. Most are trying to trade 2 piece for a more expensive piece. There are some ads that want to trade Rolex gmt for a sub or vice versa. I also seen ads like omega plus Breitling for a rolex. I am curious if people here have had successful trading story? Love to hear crazy trades that got you that grail piece.

I traded a JLC Grande Reverso Calendar plus cash for my 116520. I much prefer the Daytona's size and proportions.

Traded my Panerai 320 for a 116710LN straight up maybe 8 years ago with someone on a different forum. Still have the LN, but also wish I still had the PAM as well It was a good transaction though.

Looking at other watch forums, trading seems to be common. I have never traded just bought and sold.

Traded a $400 gold plated Seiko for a matte GMT Master 16750.

It was my father that traded it to me though, and the GMT had water damage at the time so not sure it counts. I’m sure he wanted me to have it in the long run and fix it up like I did.

A couple years ago, I traded a Smurf for a bronze IWC Aquatimer, Hulk, and cash. Ended up trading the Hulk for a JC Deep Sea + cash....that was a terrible mistake. All in all, I regret trading the Smurf, live and learn.

I have traded successfully in the past getting a JLC Reverso and cash for a Sub I bought in 1976. Now days I am concerned about fraud and just don 't feel comfortable in most situations. It really depends on the person but there are so many things that can go wrong unless you are dealing with a known person.

Here it is currently. Just waiting on the oyster bracelet back from Rolliworks. The stretch was getting too much, super comfortable, but it was time to fix it up.

He bought it when it was about a year old from the original owner which he knew somehow.

Thanks for the compliment as well.

I wish I saw one of those ads for someone looking to trade a GMT for a sub. I am looking to trade my sub for a Batman (adding cash of course) but haven’t found anyone looking to make that move.
