Saturday snooze on a Daytona

For the last 2 1/2 months I wore nothing but my Apple Watch but 2 weeks ago I received a call from my local A.D. asking me if I would like a Sub and would I like to do a curbside pick up. I couldn’t refuse the experience of doing a “drive-through” style Rolex purchase and ended up with a sub.

This morning, I went to work at 6:30am and my wife suggested I take an afternoon nap since it’s raining outside. Well at 4:05 PM today I received a text that there’s a WG Daytona available and if I want it, it can be mine.

Well I was deep into my nap at 4:05pm and by the time I replied at 5:14pm the watch was sold.

I guess the moral of the story is don’t snooze on a Daytona. And as for my wife, we are still married since she did save me a lot of money today, however I will not be taking a nap tomorrow.

Congratulations on the sub. There will be plenty of opportunities for the Daytona in the future. I wouldn’t place the blame on your wife either

You’ll get your chance on that Daytona.

You know, it’s funny but I’ve also worn an Apple Watch the past 2 and a half months. Why is that?

Because they’re super comfortable and remind us to get up off our asses while WFH all day long!

Presumably you needed something to do and charging it up, taking it off, putting it on etc was just the ticket.

I’m not the on the East Coast, my guess is they are pushing old inventory that they were holding back for certain buyers or simply maybe people are passing on their pre-orders.

The Apple Watch though seems to get the job done for now.

I rather my wife consistently suggest a weekend nap than buy a Daytona.

Congrats on the sub! Missing out on the Daytona has nothing to do with taking a nap but the AD’s ridiculous approach. There has been posts of people “missing the call” and calling back a couple minutes later and the watch being sold. I think it’s very off putting to the brand and the whole journey that watch collecting or even enjoyment should be.

Missed a SS black dial Daytona by missing a call while on the highway headed to Florida in 2006. My phone missed the call, I saw that it was from my AD, called back immediately and it had been sold to the next guy on the list. I was deeply disturbed by that one but I now have the white dial ceramic...
