Which “peacock” is the better one?
As the title says, which “peacock” would you go for and why? The original or the blue peacock?
I want to add a hi-beat and read great reviews about that movement! I love both dials equally!

Both are stunning but the 235 is just a bit more appealing to me

I had both. Still have the original. Both are great , you can’t go wrong. The blue dial dial is nice but I wasn’t a fan of the Calamine lotion color of the GMT hand.

Had both... But the blue isn't really peacock. The dial pattern is Iwate. There's really one true peacock.

My grandmother used to cover me in that stuff. I was shipped home speckled in it. That and Mercurochrome. I looked like a lab experiment.

I chose and would still choose the blue. Also called Iwate.

I prefer the SBGJ227 for its dial pattern and since it is the original peacock. Agree with posters above; SBGJ235 is lovely but it's not the 'peacock'.

Green one. I love blue dial watches, but that green is a bit more unique in my opinion. Especially since it looks like it does not have a really emerald type green, but a slightly more subdued green that isn’t too far from blue it just works.
Additionally as someone mentioned the calamine lotion hand really detracts from the blue. Wouldn’t have noticed that much until someone said it. Now I can’t unsee it.

I like 227 more. The dial is unusual.
The 235 dial is closer to something you can find with some other brands |

Has anyone heard of discount on the new peacock from the ADs?

I had the SBGJ227 Peacock and was able to see the SBGJ235 in the Tokyo/Ginza boutique. I personally think the SBGJ227 is more unique and nicer looking.
One thing to consider with the SBGJ high beat GMTs is they are very thick and in my opinion not well proportioned. At 46mm lug to lug and about 15mm thick, it's a smaller watch that wears very tall. This was the primary reason I sold mine. |

Iwate for me. Never loved the hammered look of the peacock but love the green iwate launched to celebrate the NYC boutique. Blue brought in the new GS branding and a nice overall package.

Glad to see you still have the 235, Ben... has your opinion of it changed over time ? Still like it as much as when you first posted about it (your pics were what drew me to it initially btw)? Has the thickness bothered you at all? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
