How STUPID is this!!??

Hi guys,

Well, here we have a bunch of practical Daytona watches being converted to mere "bling" with diamond encrusted bezels.

So, now we have a watch with one of the world's best chronograph movements, 2 pushers and a bezel that is totally useless and non-functional. So how do you use the watch as a chronograph?

And if a person wanted so much "bling", why descecrate a Daytona?

Personal preference JJ, some would say that orange on the bezel of a watch is stupid. JK

I find it very ugly, but once somebody buys a watch, what difference does it make what they do with it? You can also glue feathers all over your new Ferrari if you choose to. Why would it matter to anyone else?

Very true, Peter, but I was referring to the functionality (or non-functionality in this case) of the watch as a chronograph any longer.

I mean, you've got the superb movement, the pushers, the sub-dials and all; but nothing of any use without a calibrated bezel. In short, why bugger up a Daytona with this kind of bling? That's my only gripe!!

Why bugger up...? That is what lots of people said when Rolex came out with YG and TT versions of the beloved Sub. They make 'em cause people actually buy them, only reason I can think of.

But, you tosser, the functionality of those watches wasn't lost after the conversion. In the above case, the Daytona is now useless as a chronograph!!

Elton John doesn't time things and you don't deep sea dive. Both watches tell time so it seems that the function that is actually used is still working.

I understand what you mean. But if somebody chooses to put stones all over the watch, they are not planning to use it as a chronograph anyway. It is just a fashion item.

Also, if they can afford all those rocks, they can probably also afford to buy another Daytona to use as a chronograph.

I've got to admit, I've never used the chonograph function on mine to time anything, and even if I did, I strongly doubt I'd ever use it to calculate speed. So I really don't need the bezel.

Peter, stop making sense to JJ please, you will only confuse him, LOL!!

I agree with your entire post my man. The functions of these watches are only used by a few and they would not purchase the models pictured to use them.

JJ, how many people do you know who have ever used a Daytona's chronograph function functionally. I would venture to guess that you could count the number on one finger and still have room to stick it where the sun don't shine (if you get my drift). The Daytona is IMO a non-functional piece of jewelry for 99.999% of the wearers.

Personally, I own about 10 chrono watches. I use them only to time walks on Sunday. And since the chrono function on the Daytona is too hard to read anyway, I would not be likely to use it for that, assuming I even owned one.
