New day-date incoming and question

Hey all. Long time since I started a thread here. I picked up a complete set day-date 36 from a Canadian AD in 2010. The price was right and it was not worn much from the history and no real stretch to the bracelet. Anyway, I like it and the smaller size feels fine for my 7 inch wrist. I have two questions.

1. I am considering getting on the waitlist for a dd40 if I decide to get the bigger version. Would it be too big on my wrist? I don't have much opportunity to try one on as I am not close to an AD.

2. How do I balance the links on this watch properly? Not sure how to tell with a hidden clasp but it looks a bit lopsided.

Hope everyone is well,

Josh

Hi Josh, that’s a great looking reference.

FWIW, I also have the same 7” size wrist and you can definitely handle the DD40. I’m used to wearing 6 digit Rolex professional references and even the DD40 seems slightly on the small size (in a good way) for me. I tried these on multiple times.

Full disclosure, I’m not an owner so can’t assist with your link set up question.

What keeps me from buying is the lack of bracelet adjustability. I’m hoping Rolex figures that out one day

Hey! Yes the lack of bracelet adjust is not the best but fortunately this one came with a 1.5link. I think that would suffice for me with the dd40 as well.

I have a 7 inch wrist and owned several DD40’s and the President bracelet is comfortable although I did need a “large link” which incidentally is only 1.25 not 1.50.

Hey Josh ( fellow cwc member here) I think the 36 mm looks perfect on you but you can carry a 40 as well. I have a 7.25 in wrist and went with a 36 mm day date but that is just my personal preference. I think at 40 it becomes more of a sporty type watch and loses some of its elegance. If I was going for this look I would get a gold sub ( which I ultimately did)
Post some pics if you get that 40!

7" wrist here and can attest the DD40 will fit you just fine. As others stated, it feels like the perfect fit. 1.25 is the only option for a larger link on the 40.

Have both the 36 and the 40. The 40 should fit you fine but it is ALOT more gold!

No, shouldn't be. Might need to wait so they can source it but there is no list.

That's what I meant. It can take a few months to get a specific PM pieces from Rolex. Especially since I don't think Rolex Canada is getting any new pieces from Switzerland right now. They are only sending what they have already to the ADs. Unless I am misinformed.

Do I go for the white Roman or black baguette diamond. Hmm choices.

Hi Josh, you rocked the WG BLRO and a YG Sub so a 40MM DD should fit you well.

Thanks for the vote of confidence! I think I am still in shock from the day-date 2 that I saw at the AD so many years ago. The dd40 looks better in pics. Just need to see in person if possible.

I had 36mm 18238 for many years and moved to 40mm. I really prefer the 40mm but wish I had kept the 36mm too.

Congraz!

Josh, move a couple of links from the 6 side of the bracelet to the 12 side, it should wear a lot better then.

Absolutely get the 40. The 36 looks good on you but the 40 will fit you better with a 7 inch wrist. It absolutely will not be too big on you.

Size should be fine and there are 1.25 links available if you need to adjust your bracelet, ask Rolex they may have other sizes too now.
