Wearing Rolex during a run?

Hi everyone. Hope you all are doing well.

Hope to clarify this issue. I have been wearing my Rolex Sea Dweller 16600 during my runs. Just wondering if this will affect the movement/gears and the time accuracy. If so, I will have discontinue this habit.

Thanks for your input!

Can you - yes. The sweat that builds up under the case and in the bracelet puts me off.

That watch will be just fine. I wouldn’t worry in the least.

I have a more affordable brand I use for runs. If you feel comfortable with yours though, I don't see why it would hurt it. I just wouldn't feel comfortable.

I think if you're worried about the shock, vibration, from running... I wouldn't. The Rolex movements can take a bit of shaking up!

That watch is built like a tank so should be fine
I just personally prefer an Apple Watch when exercising!

I'm sure watch will be fine, but much better tools for the job to keep track of progress.

They can handle it just fine. The only thing that might happen is the rotor axle wearing out quicker if you run with it a lot.

Must admit I worry a bit when on a e scooter and my hands are shaking away with the road surface. But in comparison moving my arms when running seems pretty sedate. I don't wear jewellery when I run though.

+1 My pops has been running and doing all sort of other physical activities with his Sub, and it's going strong. I personally wouldn't do it and feel like it adds more weight and doesn't feel natural to me. For this reason, I use a fitbit when I run or workout.

Completely fine.
I wear mine in the gym, when running, when showering, in the pool, in hot tubs, etc.

No ill effects.

Took my 114270 on run last week and it gained +10 sec after 40 minutes. Usually it's only +3 sec/day. Should I worry?

No, briskly shaking a mechanical watch can have a temporary effect on the amplitude.
It will return to normal.

Wearing Rolex during a run?

Worn my Exp 1 running, mountaineering, climbing, canoeing, in gym, drunkenly stumbling home etc. Aside a few scuffs it continues to function as it did when it came out of the box.

If you wear your watch loose while jogging, you do subject it to what is referred to as "hammering", where the watch goes up, then slams back down, stopping at the bottom, and, to a much lesser degree if it is snug.

This hammering effect will, eventually, result in wear patterns.

So, if you jog, or do anything else that contributes to the hammering effect, a lot, you may need to have your watch serviced at 8 years, rather than 10.

But, just like your running shoes, so what. You got it to use it, so do it.

50 miles a week, over 200 marathons. Never a problem. Clean bracelets that have been worn in ultrasonic cleaner every other month. Otherwise just wear in shower.

Been running with submariner and panerai automatic for years.
Never noticed any problems, but I check watches regularly at SC.

Bas, aside from being a Rolex service person you're also a marathoner aren't you (iirc). I can't think of a better person to give an opinion!!! For me I leave my Rolex at home which I do my paltry three to six mile runs. It's not because of fear of damaging the watch it just feels uncomfortable to me to have the Rolex on one wrist and my Garmin on the other. It doesn't serve a purpose to do that either.
