Info needed on CHNR two tone
Hello.
I am thinking about trading my Dblue for a CHNR, as I really like it in flesh and because I do miss the GMT function. My only concern is that I come from a very robust watch to a more delicate one because of the center polished links in rose gold. My ad told me that is the most soft material that Rolex use. For the lucky ones that already has been wearing the watch since some times, how does it cope as an everyday watch? Thanks Inviato dal mio VOG-L29 utilizzando Tapatalk |

Mine fairs very well, however I do try and be more delicate with my CHNR in particular.
I also have a two tone gold sub and that scuffs up way more in my opinion. |

I think it holds up relatively well. The PCLs on mine were fine, clasp had some scratches from my computer, but not much more than a SS I'd say.

IMO it gets hairlines fairly easily, but definitely not bad enough to stray away from it. I love mine. I switch between it and my SubC as my dailies and rotate in my other watches when I feel like it.

It's a delicate watch, I baby mine. Unlike my SubC which I don't even think about and can bash it about.
The CHNR is a beauty, and you have to treat it as one. |

I neither baby nor abuse my watches. My TT CHNR is less than six months old, not worn daily and has network of hairline scratches on the PCLs. They give it a character all of its own and make it unique. They don't tend to show up readily or mar the lustre or finish of the links. But if I look I will find them.
Gold is soft. If I dig a chunk out I will get it fixed. Scratches I can live with. The next one is never far away but the bracelet can take it. I wouldn't call it a delicate watch but the surfaces will wear. Can't be avoided unless you put it away. |

The GMT is as “tough” as the DSSD. It’s just the pcl will show hairline scratches more but it’s not fragile or delicate. It’s more of a style choice.

I have had no problems. I am relatively careful with my watches but don't baby them. Not a daily wear for me, but it could be. Its my favorite watch. A very few hairlines, like my others. Good luck. I would make the change.

I use my CHNR as a fun vacation watch and actually like that it’s gotten some wear from use. I think it softens the look of the rose gold links.

CHNR is fantastic. No need to baby it. M While I have only had mine for a few weeks, I find it no more prone to scratches than my SS Daytona with PCLs. The PCLs will get hairline scratches regardless of SS or Gold.

I've had a rough time with the pcls on the chnr. Only a couple months of ownership and the hairlines are miserable. I've
only worn it around the house. |

I absolutely love my CHNR and I find that although there are hairlines that show under super direct harsh light, really only YOU will notice it. I think it is a great peice in a collection and can be worn frequently. It's a watch, wear it and enjoy it.

I think the most important thing to remember is that you can't avoid the hairline scratches. My SS DJ41 is 2 months old, I wear it almost daily, and I am "wrist conscious". I resist the temptation of getting the microfiber out every time I touch the bracelet and smudge it in the process. Instead I use the water/soap/microfiber/hairdryer method to minimize rubbing dust particles over the PCL to cause more scratches. My DJ41 has very very very minor hairlines, the type that you only see with direct light.
So the lesson to be learned here is, yes, it's a lot more sensitive than a brushed finish bracelet, but if you're mindful and a bit careful, remember where you place your hand, and resist the urge to constantly rub it clean, you will be fine. I was obsessed with rubbing off smudges created by putting my bluesy on my arm with a microfiber, all I did was add hairline scratches to the gold, I won't be doing that to my Rootbeer, when I finally get it. Just wear it, don't rub it, and when you feel the need to clean it do it by rinsing it off thoroughly with water, set it aside on a microfiber towel, soap up your hands, add soap to the watch, now gently go all around your watch soaping it down, then rinse it off, stick the absorbing microfiber towel (I used one meant for wiping quick detailer off a car) through the bracelet and use the rest of the towel to just cover the watch to let it absorb the water. Final step is to remove the towel and use a hair dryer on the cold setting to get rid of any remaining moisture. Now that the watch is clean you could do some touch up with a micro fiber towel. |

I don’t think it’s an everyday wearer. My Sub takes a beating but I don’t think my Rootbeer will, so I take a bit more care of it. The rose gold centre links do look like they will scratch easy, but they can be polished out.
I can say one thing though, you won’t regret getting one. I’ve tried to take a picture to reflect how amazing it looks, but nothing compares to the naked eye. D2195CA6-6D8A-427F-A586-166C14B5291F.jpeg |

Wear it, let the scratches happen, and enjoy your time. In about 10 years it'll go to RSC for service and come back looking polished and new again.
Then you have fun doing it all over again

Both are great watches.
I don’t wear the root beer too regularly, but it has accumulated quite a few micro scratches on the bracelet. As some have mentioned it is not a watch that will match with everything and sometimes (maybe as I don’t wear it as a daily) seems quite flash. However, saying that, I don’t think I could choose one over the other. |

I wear my chnr daily. I don’t baby it. I don’t try to match clothes to it. It’s not delicate. It’s an awesome watch that imo looks better with a little character.

You can always have the polished surfaces brushed, or polish the scratches occasionally.
I hope to have a CHNR soon, and it will be a daily driver. No hesitation. |

Just wear it and forget about the scratches. All Oyster PCL scratch, SS, gold or platinum. Most are hairlines which add character. To view it differently or be bothered by it, suggests a different more scratch proof watch bracelet is indicated.

The idea that it's not sturdy enough to be a daily wearer is a little silly. It's as sturdy as a sub.
Will the polished part of the bracelet get visibly scuffed? Sure. People complain about that with steel GMTs as well. But that's purely cosmetic, and not even noticeable to anyone but the wearer. As folks have noted, you could get the bracelet brushed to better hide the scratches (like a sub) if you really care to. I personally wouldn't hand-polish those links, since that also replaces the professional finish with something much less impressive. I'd rather have the original finish with scuffs than smear out the crisp mirror finish with a polishing cloth. But, really, neither is noticeable to anyone else anyway. |

PCLs show hairline scratches more readily than the brushed oyster. For me, the CHNR was not a daily wear piece (more of a flashy/fun watch), while the black DSSD is a daily driver due to more versatile looks and the glidelock clasp. I personally would not do the trade. Maybe add a CHNR or another GMT to the collection? They look and wear differently.
