Is this watch real or replica?(Bought from AD)
Hi everyone,
My parents just bought a new lady datejust 28mm from an authorized dealer. But today I saw the watch, I realized that the watch a little bit "weird". 1) The watch has 2 small rolex logo beside the "swiss made" words, but I checked rolex website and google, I've never seen any datejust watch has 2 crowns. 2) The 9 o'clock word 'IX' diamond also slightly different if compare with the Rolex offcial website. https://www.rolex.com/watches/lady-d...9174-0021.html Does anybody knows maybe due to the watch has different version or my parent just bought a fake/replica watch from AD? If so, how do I check, contact or feedback to Rolex company? |

It’s definitely real if it was purchased new from an AD. The renders on site may differ slightly from the production model.

Rolex makes dial changes without notifying anyone regularly. Many dial variations exist. If you bought it new at an AD it is real. It is really really silly to think otherwise.

Here's an image from a similar watch. Diamond installation seems to match. I actually found the "FAKE" version of this watch... the biggest difference is that the Star Settings on the REAL one almost look like spikes off the diamond. The star settings on the FAKE have a large border around the "Diamond" that looks like a rhinestone set on a steel star... Your mother's has the spike, borderless diamonds.

Some countries I would be doubtful even if I bought from an AD, but Singapore isn’t one of them. I don’t think you should be worried.

It's also possible that the AD put on an aftermarket dial...

One thing that Rolex does bugger with all the time is that wording arrangement there on the dial. It looks legit. Especially if you got it new from a dealer.

Maybe the two crowns signifies the new 3235 movement and they couldn't put the crown between "Swiss Made" because of the diamond marker.

I've never seen the crowns myself. I would take it to another AD and get them to check. They may even have a watchmaker onsite who can open it up.

It would be a pretty poor copy if it is fake!

OK, I did a bit of snooping and here's what I found. I decided to search for some other watches with Swiss made surrounded by crowns on both sides. I was able to find one other watch in Japan with same reference, 279174. I don't want to share links as it might be against the rules (I always forget whether it is so I'll air on side of safety) but go onto C24 and search for that reference and sort by new. Most recent salmon dial one. Additionally I was able to find it on 2 watches with RG TT, 279171. Also sort by new, purple dial in NL and Sundust dial with the same star diamonds as OPs watch just in TT version in HK. So the crowns around Swiss made aren't all that strange. I bet Rolex would show it off this Baselworld along with some new dial option and perhaps change the rendering on the website, but it didn't happen so those watches that made their way to ADs already started selling and now we see them out there in real world.
I also did a bit of snooping and arrived at same conclusion as SN13 regarding diamond star. On fake, it seems like the star around the diamond is just a pentagon with a raised dot at each edge, whereas OPs along with the picture SN13 provided and the TT watch in HK all have a sort of spike shooting off out of diamond. So based on this I have no issues with the watch. Also since it came from an AD I wouldn't be worried. But here's where things go wrong for me. The font on the warranty card where it states the model is too thick as well as where it states dd-mm-yyyy. Also all the cards I have seen show dd/mm/yyyy or dd.mm.yyyy and where it states name of an AD, they show country code first and then the name of an AD. Perhaps I'm wrong in this case. Perhaps there is a country by country variation and SG warranty cards have a thick font and state dd-mm-yyyy and don't list a country code before the name of an AD. But that is the only thing that is making me question it now. If someone can confirm that the font and writing on the card is correct, I'd have no issues trusting that watch is definitely real. Otherwise, I am slightly suspicious, but not significantly so if the watch was bought straight from an AD. More curious even than suspicious. |

Maybe it was produced in 2020 and its one of the first to be seen with the double crown indicating a new movement.

I'm guessing new movement, but single crown wouldn't fit because of the 5 sided star being upside down.
Two crowns makes it symmetrical. As others have said, if you got it from an AD, should be end of story. |

Hi. Mine was bought from Harrods last September and definitely has two crowns near "swiss made" as it is the new movement. I would take a photo but its virtually impossible to see the white writing on my black MOP dial.
