would a DD40 look stupid on a thin wrist
My local ad does not have one to try on. my wrist is small, I can touch my middle finger with my thumb of other hand. Anyone have pics you can post with a dd40 on a thin wrist? Thank you

Your wrist doesn’t sound small, as I can do the same on my 7” wrist ... I guess it depends on how big your hands are

Why not try a 36mm?

Not perfect, but the Daytona is relatively close. Have you tried on a sub or gmt? If you can stand that, you’ll be fine with the DD40.

That brings one to question the length of the fingers. Why not measure it?

If you ultimately decide on a DD36, look at preowned, as there is very large delta between new and mint pre-owned vis-a-vis the DD40. |

FWIW - Being able to wrap your other hand around your wrist as you describe doesn’t mean you have a skinny wrist. Most people can do this regardless of wrist size because their hands and fingers are proportional. |

I have a 6.25 wrist and prefer the 36, the dial on the 40 is too big imo even though the watch itself is smaller than my Daytona which fits better. Dial size plays a big part in how I feel the watch looks, especially from a few feet away in the mirror.

The circumference of the wrist is a bit of a misnomer IMO.
It's all down to the shape of your wrist. It's the lug to lug measurement that makes a watch look daft on a round wrist, but perfectly fine on a flat 'rectangular' wrist. I have a sub 7" wrist and I think the DD40 looks just right. Excuse the excess on the bracelet; I've since removed a link |

DD40 wears smaller than a ceramic sub so it would be fine for 99% of buyers.

I think 6.25" up will look better with DD40, if smaller than that 36mm should fit better IMHO.

I don’t know your preference for wearing a bigger looking watch or a smaller...but a 6in wrist will be borderline as far as lug overhang, I would guess. I’d guesstimate the DD40 will look ok, but on this bigger side, and the 36DD would look ideal. This is all just guessing, being that everyone has their own tastes and opinions on what looks good on themselves, not to mention there’s other factors...flat wrist, bigger forearms, etc...
I’d definitely try to try on both sizes somehow, even if it’s a different brand with the same case shape/dimensions. Good luck. |

The DD40 doesn’t wear that big. It’s nothing like the old DD2 which I felt was massive. I’ve tried one on a few times. You really need to try it though and do a side by side with the 36.

DD 36 is the perfect for any wrist size. Try it , wears surprisingly larger than any other 36mm you would had worn.

6.5 in wrist here. DD40 is the perfect size for my small wrist. Call me crazy but I own both 228235.
