While the oyster bracelet is perfect for the Daytona, I feel the need to dress it down.
The few straps that I've tried grinds towards the case so I have to employ smarty end-links. And that doesnt really dress it down enough.
Any others who had luck dressing it down, if so with what straps?

In my opinion, a leather strap is inconsistent with a “sport” watch.

The bracelet is a key part of the modern SS Daytona in my opinion.

I know there are a ton of PM Daytona’s on straps, but I could never warm to them.

I'd go rubber b. Though I appreciate everyone has different taste.

I'd go Oysterflex if it had it's own clasp; and not having to use the oyster clasp with it.

I've never had the thought that a Daytona needs to be dressed down. That's very odd.

The least popular Daytona models are on leather, don't do that to your 500.

Why did you buy it if you don't like it on the bracelet?

It’s funny in that PM models on leather looks good to my eye but this looks out of place. Maybe the bezel? Maybe how they are marketed?

I also am partial to the PCLs on the bracelet and feel that dressed down the character of the Daytona changes drastically, depending on the strap. Although the factory bracelet works well on it - it is fun to experiment and see how the watch feels to you on other options.

Here is mine on original bracelet, everest leather strap and rubber B! Currently wearing it on rubber B as very easy to clean watch frequently in this hot weather in AZ right now - and plenty comfortable!

I really like leather on (even modern) Rolex, despite what a lot of members think. Could you consider a rally/perforated leather strap for a more casual look too?

Leather straps are a great way to change the look of the watch, my advice would be to start with a cheap one to figure the style, then fork out for a good one.

My preference for the black dial was the pictured strap from Everest.

I think a leather strap looks best on dark dial daytonas. This one is one of Everest straps.

It’s a Daytona. One of the flashiest SS watches around. Just go with it. Looks bang average at best on leather.

The JLC Reverso is one of the most iconic, truly "sport" watches and it is on a leather strap.
