Yacht Master vs. Ulysse Nardin Maxi Marine Diver

What are everyone's thought's on the Ulysse Nardin Maxi Marine Diver? The two watches share a very similar look. I tried one on at the AD and I fell in love with it. They're offering a hefty discount on it. Any UN fans out there?

I'm not a fan personally, but they are great watches from what I hear. If you can get a deal on it, it is probably a great watch to own.

Sounds like you already know what to do.

U.Nardin is a very well made respectable brand. Rolex will hold it's value a bit more on the pre-loved market. Good luck! I personally love the look of the Nardin.

i kinda like it, but not too much on the bracelet. the golf ball dial and blue hands are quite interesting.

does it have the modified ETA or UN's own movement?

I tried on the YM and this back to back and I'm ashamed to say that the UN felt much more substantial than the YM. I went into the AD with intentions on trying on the YM. The rep suggested that I try on the UN after trying on the YM. He claims he is a big Rolex fan, but really recommended the UN over the YM.

I have to say that I was quite impressed with their line of watches, as well as this one.

Too easy!

Maxi, all day long, no comparison IMO, gotta love that golf ball dial and it is a far more substantial watch than the YM.....each to their own of course

Yeah, I'm not a YM guy either. Great watches, just not my style. But if I were to choose b/w the two it would probably be the UN.

I actually quite like the look of that in comparison to the YM.

MSRP is roughly 7500 I think (for the one in the pic above), but you can pick one up new for about 5500-ish it looks like to me.

Seems MSRP is around $7500, which isn't too bad.

Edit: Darn you diablojota and your fast typing skills!

I'm not a YM fan, so I would probably take the UN if given those choices..

What kills it for me on the UN Divers is the skeleton hands..............it's just downright ugly against the dial.....

I do like the UN maxi chrono's with the traditional hands.......

Should be able to get one for around $5K new, around $3500-4000 pre-owned, even less for the orange version I'm lusting over! (Hope I'm not hijacking your thread.)

I prefer the simplicity of the Platty, there's too much going on in the UN...

Embossed anchors on the strap with another on the dial is a bit too twee for my liking , & there's a date on display as well I though only bottled lagers & football teams did that

Seriously, I've always thought a hint of pale blue with a white dial works so well together, would love to see pics when you have them

If I were able to get the Blue Seal at a nice street price then I would be sorely tempted.

The UN is a great looking watch! In fact, the only thing I really don't care for is the excessively long name.

Now that orange monstrosity? Heinous.

But it looks great on you!

It looks interesting, unique might be a better word for it. I am not a fan of the YM, but perhaps the YM is more of a conservative choice as far as looks. I bet you will be happy with either choice and it sounds like you already know what you want. Give it a shot!
