A nice reward after the frustration.

Hi everyone,

So I had posted a thread to express my frustration over my 2 year long hunt for a Batgirl, a Daytona and recently the DJ41 Fluted+Jubilee to kick off my Rolex collection. Many of you helped me open my eyes, lower my expectations and focus on starting by establishing a good relationship with one AD and getting the DJ41 first to show them that I'm a serious buyer.

The next morning after posting the thread, one of the ADs called me saying he has the DJ41 I wanted but with a black dial which I asked him to save for me for this weekend as my work schedule was a bit busy. So first thing this morning I went to try the watch and guess what, it was gone like it was never there in the first place. I was extremely mad and kept staring at the only SS model they have (Yacht Master 40mm Rhodium Dial) for 30 minutes but I reminded myself I should focus on my preferences .

With that in mind, I resumed the hunt and went again with my brother from AD to AD but the 6 of them basically all had the same answer : Yes we can take your name and phone number for the DJ41 but the list is 6 months long (come on !!!! ). And right when I was going to give up, I went to the only AD I've always skipped (one of the two "Arije" here in Paris). What can I say, lovely people, excellent welcome and the SA was incredibly nice to us. We spoke a bit about watches, work, the coronavirus and how it has impacted the industry etc.. Then he asked me about the model I wanted. I was actually hoping for the one with the blue dial which they didn't have but he asked us to give him a couple minutes and came back with this beauty in the pictures below. And boy I was the happiest guy in the room. I found it even better than the blue one, the dial matches the rest of the watch perfectly .. plus the lums .. aaah the lums ..

I’ll definitely call this AD again to continue my hunt for the Batgirl and the Daytona. He even liked the joke when I said I’ll start harassing him soon for these as he was expecting me to say it haha !

Please let me know what you think of this purchase and I hope this gives you Rolex fans some good hope when chasing after your favorite models !

What a beauty. I'd take that over a black dial DJ any day.

And yes, those blue lumes do look spectacular against a light dial.

Congratulations.

Well, for me it's simple, the experience of buying a watch from an AD has its own charm like what happened for me today. Getting to talk and celebrate the purchase is priceless. I might change my opinion in the future of course and I probably will soon as the wait lists are extremely long.

It feels very light and comfy I can barely feel the watch on my wrist. Since this is my first Rolex, I can't really give my opinion on the oyster but I'm sure it has its ups too.

Oh wow, what a beauty, that dial is stunning. Who needs a BLNR when you have that bad lad? Awesome pic up, great lume shot too.

Love the lume shot. I noticed you said you like the blue. I have the blue and love it but really liked the silver as well, very classic. Also the lume is better on the silver in my opinion.

Excellent! DJ's are that difficult to find in a cosmopolitan World Class city like Paris? Wow. that's an eye opener!
Great to know you scored a fantastic reference.
Bon chance mon frere
