Bundle package- Daytona

Well and kindness ladies and gentlemen. I am in the healthcare field and considering trading-selling my DC for more subdued pieces imho like either the DJ36-explorer 36 and BB58. May even considering grabbing a classic speedy 1861 at a welcoming price as I gifted my father-in-law mine a few years ago. I look forward to reading responses. Take care and be well

I personally prefer the Daytona over those watches.

What makes you think a DJ or EXP is more subdued.

Sure the Daytona is one of the most coveted watches amongst our community... however virtually everyone else wouldn't even know its a Rolex.

People recognise sub's and DJ's / DD's a mile off, generally. But Daytona's are pretty low key as far as brand recognition is concerned.

If you want subdued then I would look for a non polished 3 hander. That explorer would do the trick. Another option is to look outside of Rolex.

In the healthcare field you are putting your hands on people and they cannot help but look. Everyone knows Rolex. JLC Polaris, Zenith, GP Laurato are a few that I believe you could get in addition to the Explorer. I made this suggestion assuming you like a Chrono but just want something that draws less attention.

Have you noticed many people recognizing your Daytona? I haven't had that issue (other than the occasional watch enthusiast). I do agree with others that the DJ is very easily recognizable so I would imagine the explorer 36 or the Tudor might be a more inconspicuous choice.

Also, from a purely personal standpoint, I wouldn't trade the DaytonaC for any of the options you listed

If you like the Daytona more, keep it and who cares what others think. If you're more attracted to the others and the $$ is right, do the trades. If it were me, I'd take the Daytona over any of those and not care what others think.

I'm curious how many comments you've received on the Daytona? I've only received on over the years. I'd want to keep the Daytona if it were me. If someone recognized the Daytona I suspect it was the Rolex logo that gave it away more than the watch. None of the other Rolex watches would get by with scrutiny. I had multiple comment in one day on my old 36mm OP in a hospital setting.

When I am in work attire - typically it is a bespoke suit. I like nice suits. When I am wearing a nice watch and a nice suit then I get compliments frequently on the watch I am wearing.

I wear nice watches also in my casual clothes - mostly from Target (sans selvedge jeans that have a cult culture of their own) and almost never get comments on whatever watch I am wearing.

I would not sell the Daytona. Aside from the occasional WIS, no one comments on mine.

I like to see my doctor, lawyer etc wearing a nice watch. It tells me that they make good money which tells me they're probably good at their job.

Well if you come to the UK don't judge too harshly because fine watches on doctors' wrists are rare as hen's teeth. But then cosmetic dental work is also uncommon in my experience.

Doesn't mean they're good or bad doctors, or anything really.

Sorry, actually it means they're probably very good at making money. But definitely do not be reassured by that when you're speaking to a doctor.

Love the Brits so no comment on the dental work and Hens Teeth funnies...However, I saw some brit military pilots and at least one of the gents I bought a pint for was wearing a GMT Red Blue bezel. This was a long time ago...Bloody brilliant!!

Another option is switch to a Rubber B strap, makes the watch look more like a daily wear piece with less of the bling from the bracelet.

Nope, wouldn’t do it. The DJ is way more well known because the general public associates that watch with Rolex. If you can afford it, get the Tudor or whatever you feel is less conspicuous.

Keep the Daytona.

Go buy a Grand Seiko Snowflake SBGA211. Amazing watch that most people will think is just a Seiko.

To quote one particular u-tuber “have you got rocks in your head?”

I think you’re probably projecting your own feelings about the Daytona and its place in watch culture outwards...but like others have said most people don’t care or notice

I appreciate all the responses and good humor! At this time we all need to laugh more. I have decided to just add to my collection possibly a Tudor BB58 or 36bb or GS F9 quartz as my daily.
