Best casual watches for men?!

I was just in the market for a casual dress watch for my husband. Something not too flashy, not too subtle. You know, just right. I came upon this resource here when I looked up the best casual watches for men. If you’re looking to buy a nice watch on a budget, I highly recommend it. Check it out:

https://www.bobswatches.com/rolex-bl...tches-men.html

I Put Together Their List Below:

1. Rolex Air-King 5500 (Price: $3k)
2. Rolex Day-Date 118139 (Price: $16k)
3. Panerai Luminor PAM423 ($6k – $7k)
4. Rolex Oyster Perpetual 114300 (Price: $5k)
5. Tudor Black Bay ($3k)
6. Oris Artelier (Price: $1k)
7. Rolex GMT Master II 116710 (Price $10k)
8. Rolex Explorer II 16570 (Price: $6k)
9. Rolex Submariner 16610 (Price: $7k – $8k)
10. Oris Divers Sixty-Five (Price: $1.2k)

If it’s a Rolex I would say Submariner!

A pretty wide range 1k-16k. Many, many great watches between those prices. Also highly subjective. You’re missing JLC!

Nice List!

I'm thinking about a Nomos Club, the 36mm version as it's something that both myself and my wife can enjoy, and the price is reasonable at about $1500. Plus I like hand crankers!

Welcome, Im sure your husband will appreciate your research! You are going to get a wide variety of options, but I would recommend #4 (OP) for the following reasons:
- wide variety of dial colors
- goes well with a t-shirt or suit
- 39mm is a great size for a wide variety of wrist sizes
- may be easier to find than some of your other options listed
- priced toward the lower end of the options listed

Hope this helps!

The Oyster Perpetual recommendation is a good one.

However, of all my Rolex watches, my two favorites are the 14060M Submariner and 16570 Explorer II. I could live with one or the other as my one and only watch.

I like the Panerai too, easy to get different straps and switch them out for different levels of casual and dressy. Panerai sells them and there are others makers like combat-straps.com. I bought a couple Combat Straps for my dad for Christmas, they are great!

Compared to the other watches, Panerai has an easy strap change. You can buy straps for any watch, just can be a difficult and scratch prone job to make swaps.

You can't beat the Submariner or Explorer ii if you want to lean towards the casual side. I feel like you can dress the Oyster Perpetual a little easier though. Those would be my choices and as someone stated already, the Sub or Explorer ii could be my one and only.

I don't know if anyone could ever go wrong gifting a Submariner!

I am a German watch fanboy and recommend NOMOS and Sinn. Glashutte Original (the Sixties and Seventies collections) if you want to go higher end. Among Rolex, I'd say Explorer, preferably the 36mm 14270 or 114270.

I don’t consider ANYTHING on that list “casual dress.” The NOMOS model fits that definition better.

Nomos make some great casual watches. As well as the brand's you listed.

If he isn't into watches then I wouldn't waste time or money with the more 'look at me' type watches listed. Rather go for something low key. If it's a dress watch then best to remove all the SS Rolex bracelet options from the count as they are not a casual dress watch. Rather sports and or diving watches.

Maybe a JLC master would be a good fit. Depending on £.

Very kind whatever you end up doing. !

A lot depends on what you mean by a casual watch. But for me, the Explorer 16750 really fits that definition. The brushed steel bezel removes the bling factor, and it's a great understated watch.

I would get him a Rolex Submariner six digit SS watch. I would look to one of our Trusted Sellers, DavidSW is my choice. He has a website and has numerous SS Submariners listed. Call him, tell him what you want, pay and have the watch by 1030 the next morning. Simple.

Tudor and seiko are the King of the "affordable" good mechanical watch.

My choice would be Seiko MM300 / Tudor BB58 black.

More budget a Rolex, no matter what model is perfect.

I would second this in saying an Explorer is a great "casual" watch to consider.

I agree with these comments...conspicuously missing from that list is the DJ, which arguably is the standard by which all casual date only complication watches are based.

Second the above. DJ in any combination you line is the beat option ever.
