NYC AD Recommendations
Hey,
Trying to purchase my first Rolex and I’ve fallen in love with the OP39 with the Red Grape dial. I was able to get my name down for an order at Wempe but outside of that no ADs are willing to place orders for OPs. I didn’t even realize it was such a popular model, even though I’ve chosen a color that isn’t the most popular. Do you guys have any advice? Thanks! |

NYC? Save yourself some aggravation and buy from one of the Trusted Resellers on this site.
The OP39 is not a tough watch to get. The AD’s in NYC are a waste of time, they have guys walking in off the street every 10 min looking for the watch you want. Don’t know if still available: https://www.rolexforums.com/showthre...ghlight=114300 DavidSW has one also. |

Wempe Jewelers on 55th street and 5th Avenue are great. Ask for Michael

Went by Watches of Switzerland today in SoHo and was treated very nicely. They offered me the option to put down a deposit for the explorer and Air King. When I politely declined, the sales rep still insisted on taking down my info and made sure I left with her card, as well.
Not sure how it would work for your OP39 but they were really nice to me. I would recommend to go early in the morning as that's the slowest time in the day and when you're likely to get the best attention. |

Paul, Watches of Switzerland refused to take my name down although they were polite, they informed me that as of Tuesday this week they’re no longer taking orders for OP39.
Wempe did take my information and “placed an order” for me but based on what I’ve read doesn’t seem like that means much. They were very polite though. The only reason I haven’t gone gray is it’s my first Rolex purchase and wanted to go through this experience. |

I have always been treated very well by NYC Rolex dealers...but then I haven’t asked for anything, just browsing. Wempe would be my first ask, but also try their Rolex only Boutique right across the street. London in the Oculus did a little adjustment on my unworn Daytona last November, very nice to me. Both WOS stores were good AND gave me free beverages. I don’t think the model you are seeking should take long to get. Good luck!

The Rolex boutique on 5th Ave has always been great to me. I bought three or four of my watches there and they always come through for me.

I’d reach out to Ilse at Tourneau at Roosevelt Field. She’s excellent. London Jewelers is great too, but they have a LOT of folks with money coming through. Didn’t see anything in stainless the last few times I’ve been there.

Tourneau at Roosevelt Field didn’t seem as if they wanted to give me the time of day last time I spoke to them :( |

Also one more piece of advice, if new OPs are announced in September, what happens to my order? I’m slightly worried they discontinue the grape as it seems to be less popular than the rest.

Unless you paid them in full or gave them a non-refundable deposit AND you have a receipt noting the payment is for a specific model, you don’t have an “order” for anything — just a verbal request.

OP
As I said in my earlier post you can make it hard or easy for yourself. If you buy from a NYC AD, you pay 8.95% sales tax, that bring the purchase price to $6210. David is asking $6375. Ask him for a better price, I have always found him negotiable It is a brand new, unworn piece. Again, the easy way or hard way. You can have it now or in a year from now. Best of luck https://davidsw.com/watches/rolex-wa...-grape-dial-4/ Or https://www.rolexforums.com/showthre...ghlight=114300 |

Hey, This is definitely a consideration, but I’d like to give my luck a try first. If within 2 months or so I’m unable to get one, I will sure turn to the forums. Seeing as it’s my first purchase I feel like I want the whole boutique experience and would like my name on the warranty card. Thanks! |

Rolex Boutique (rum by Wempe) on 5th Avenue in the Rolex building
Doesn’t get more “boutique experience” than that I suppose |

Honestly if the OP was hard to find I would just buy from a seller here on the forum.

Try the For Sale section here on the forum. I get most of my watches through Tony Geha-JUSTROLEXES.

Try Lorilil Jewlers in Forest Hills. They respond to emails. Seem like nice people. Inquired about a sub date back in February and was offered one in March (declined at the time because of the pandemic ).
