You love Yellow President DD , but you are shy to use it?

This question is for all the watch lovers who like the Yellow Gold Day Date.

First of all, I dont own one for the reason of this post.

In my case is too much for where I live, friends, relations and environment I have. I don t like the "I m rich " style.

Any others who love that watch and dont want to use it for that reason?

I found it could cause embarrassment when it was questioned as being gold. I also never really got attached to one (I've owned two).

Nope! I would have no problem wearing it. I would rock it out, but I would never be boastful about it though or intentionally flashing it around.

General public probably couldn’t tell a DD between a Michael Kors, or some other gold plated watch you see at a local shopping mall.

Don’t sweat what others think. You do you and do it proudly. No need to mentally limit yourself but at the same time don’t shove it into others faces.

Thats the correct thing to think, but for me is very difficult.

Imagine to go dinner to a home friend who dont have job, or with economic problems (just an example)

I plan to acquire Day-Date in the near future. If I have it, I will wear, I am not shy at all.

For the time being, I have AP RO rose gold, I wear it when I dress up.

I love the look of certain yg watches (DD), but I can't wear em. Too flashy for me - would feel awkward wearing it around others. Maybe down the line.

I got over it when I decided to get over what other people think about it. I was 47. I wish I had done it sooner. Nothing wrong with how you feel. You’ll know when it’s time.

If you like or love it enough to want to own it, purchase it. If once you purchase it, you find more joy from admiring it in private or wearing it on special occasions than wearing it to your usual haunts, do that. If, however, you feel like wearing it frequently, do so and enjoy!

I personally would wear one wherever and whenever I want without worrying what others thought.

I love DD yellow gold, my Gold Daytona, even wealthy accomplished friends they admire might not have good watches as some don’t care.
No I am not worried in right circles, I think it’s a style. There are gold plated watches that are bling too but not gold some people wear this and have the &, and they drive Porsche, MB and BMW, yet Might not care about a DD YG, but their cars says I am richer than a DD, so go figure.

Wear what you like, wear you can afford. You can always sell it and not loose a lot.

People put their money in what they like...

When you buy any PM watch, you kinda cross that line of feeling shyness wearing one.

There are wealthy people in the world and poor people and those in between. There are have's and have nots. This has always been the way of the world. Why feel shame or embarrassment because you have the financial means to buy a nice watch, car, house, boat, island or anything else? Most wealthy people worked their a$$es off for what they own and have. I wear a solid YG Submariner and apologize to nobody for buying it or owning it.

Well said Also OP, I see people driving luxury vehicles regardless of their means because it's a dream of theirs and they find a way. You have every right to wear that DD40 if its a dream of yours and you found a way

Buying a white gold or platinum Day-Date will solve your problem.

I mean... if you're going to wear a PM DD then there is no way out of the "I'm rich lifestyle" but you're in luck because no one really notices what watch you're wearing

I had the DD40 228238 with the champagne roman dial and it was my GRAIL PIECE. It was such a beauty and I pampered it. I eventually got the itch for another piece and acquired the 116618LB and I found myself wearing it more since it fit my lifestyle better. The DD40 felt more dressy in my opinion. I ended up selling the DD40 and kept my 116618LB. But I have the urge for another DD40 so I have my eye on the RG Olive Dial. I feel the RG is a bit more subdued than the YG. The DD40 YG sparkles and in the sun, its beautiful but bright.

People notice. It may not be daily or weekly, but people notice. Anyone that says otherwise may be living in some utopian land where social class doesn’t exists.

I personally am very proud of everything I’ve worked to accomplish and enjoy my rewards. Do I feel bad that others in this world struggle? Of course. But I am not, by trade or passion, a policy maker to pursue change on a broader level.

When does it really affect me? There have been instances where people just expect things from you because you have nice things. And I’m not talking people who know you. You quickly chafe those folks out. It’s others that judge you as quickly as you could judge them...valets, waiters, and anyone really. I’m always courteous, gracious and generous, but have found myself in situations where the attitude (is said or implied) “you got money, you owe me a big tip or something.” Had a FedEx guy deliver a package in early December once and asked for a Holiday Bonus. I’d never seen the guy before but yet I was supposed to cut a check based on where I live? Get real! And I’m no Scrooge, later that year my wife and I helped prepare over 500 meals for the homeless and helped hand deliver them. (This year our son will hopefully be old enough to help!). My skin has grown so thick I need to add more links :)

So my advice: buy the watch, enjoy it, be a good person and ignore the negative chatter.

On the topic of lifestyle, yes it's Hollywood but I thought it interesting Ron Pearlman's character Clay Morrow rocked the yellow DD40 with champagne dial on Sons of Anarchy

Don't flash it around but many people wouldn't realise its value. Where do you draw the line? Would you get the bus to a friends house so he didn't see you had a nice car for example.
