Icon7 A question regarding Platinum Daytona

If you got one, would you change the strap to Rubber B or some leather straps just to reduce the weight of it?

The weight is the best thing about this watch. It's a gym in itself.

I've been thinking about getting a plat Daytona with the full Baguettes.

I think I'm not ready to play in that big boys league just yet. LOL

Just what be the point in buying any platinum watch if you did that.

I would, but not due to the weight, just to change the look. Perhaps during the summer time.

Definitely not. Especially definitely not a Rubber B.

The Pt Daytona does nothing for me but I wouldn’t change the package.

A rubber or leather strap would just make it look worse to me.

Would you remove the doors from the Presidential State Cadillac to give it more of a golf buggy kind of vibe?

I was looking for a budget Platona head on rubber or leather. I didn't find one.

For weight reduction, definitely not. There are other reasons I have considered doing it which is mainly for preservation of the bracelet. Cost for bracelet repolishing for me is about $200 and is currently underway. For this watch this isn't particularly expensive. It is nice to be able to wear it without worrying about scratching up the bracelet however just because it starts looking pretty scarred up after extended use.

That’s like buying a Bentley and swapping the seats with recaro ones to make it more track-ready.

I wouldn’t change the bracelet
But honestly, do what you like most and what appeals to you best! Patek and other watchmakers have many platinum models on straps.
About the weight, again it’s a personal preference, some like it, others don’t!

If you don’t live the weight, consider another platinum watch that comes on strap but if the Daytona face is what you’re after, I’d say go with the rubber B.

It’s your watch and your wrist!!

I did try on nato once just because the ad looked pretty cool color combo wise. But too too heavy balance wise.

Not a chance. The weight is one of the greatest things about the Platinum Daytona. That and it flies way under the radar unless you’re a WIS....

It's impossible for the platona to fly under the radar! I can spot it 1km away!

I really appreciate the look of a Rolex bracelet on their watches. I had a YG Daytona on a strap in the 90s. I imagined it with a bracelet so eventually sold it and bought one on a bracelet.

A full WG Daytona will probably weigh as much as a Platona on rubber if weight is the concern. But the biggest consideration is that a watch that heavy without the weight of the bracelet to balance it will really swim in the wrist unless you wear your watches tighter than most, which would be uncomfortable for many.

Even though some scoff at the Oysterflex when comparing it to the full PM cost, it really is rubber engineered the Rolex way and sorts out the issues of rubber on heavy watches.

From what I've seen at least one has ripped due to the mismatch in hardness between the Ti blades and the rubber. I believe the OF is a great idea but maybe not the best implementation. More like a solution in search of a problem.

So you pay a King's ransom for a platinum bracelet thats on the watch and you remove it for a piece of rubber.
That would be a NO.

I would never do that.
Better start working out and grow some muscles instead of mutilating your watch.
