Advice and opinions appreciated for a newbie

After just over a year I've decided to bite the bullet and made a venture to a local AD to enquire about a Rolex Ive had my eye on. Signed up to this forum a while ago and been trying to research best I can. The watch I'm looking at is the Milgauss Z Blue Dial 116400GV. Just love the colour and style. My question was, can anyone recommend any insightful books that a newbie may find useful on Rolexs? As I've moved along this process I've found myself wanting to know the ins and outs of the mechanisms and the story's behind the watches. Recently read an article about the AirKing and it's association with the bloodhound which made me see this timepiece in a whole new light.
With the new Rolex releases about a month away would people now hold off to see if there was potential upgrades on the watch they're looking for?thanks all

Welcome, my quest is totally different to yours, not saying which is the right way as we are all different, all I know for many years I wanted a Rolex Sub, my only criteria was I wanted a basically new watch, got offered a Bluesy and took it, I find the more research I do on anything makes a decision harder to come to but that’s me.

There's an online blog called a Rolex Magazine (or something like that) which has a lot of history on it, mostly pictorial, technical information (although not in expert detail) and anecdotes.

That's the only one I can think of off hand.

About your intended watch. Wow! Fantastic watch. I loved mine but my wife loved it more. It looks even more impressive on her. It's the most bling watch I ever owned. Apart from the beautiful dial, lightning bolt and all the small cheeky details, it twinkles, flashes and sparkles all the time (unless in darkness). Being all polished it also shows up all the micro scratches, which means no two will be exactly alike once worn.
