Would this be for sale or just for display?

I was in Geneva earlier today and popped into the Four Seasons hotel for lunch and in the spa lobby area was a Rolex display, care of Bucherer. I was rather surprised to see a WG 116519LN Daytona in the cabinet and wondered if it would be for sale or a dummy version just for display purposes. Anyone know for sure?

AD always want to sell watch. I walked-in to AD and ask for a “reserved” watch on display. I got the watch after the sa “asked” the manager.

I know someone who would know for sure...the AD. Why not just ask, even if you aren't necessarily interested in buying?

My two eurocents are on "for sale." In my country, "display only" watches are indicated as such. Don't be shy, OP.

Cheers

My bet is not for sale, it doesn’t seem to have hang tags. But there’s only one way to know

To my knowledge those displays in the Four Seasons Geneva are the real deal. The hotel front desk is right there. I’m sure they’d be eager to help you get in contact with the AD.

Haha! Great feedback but I was just curious to see if anyone knew for sure (it caught my eye as I already own this model) but if anyone is looking for a new Daytona 116519LN themselves and are based in Europe, it may be worth calling Bucherer then, as the majority opinion appears to be that it is for sale.

I was in Queenstown NZ and walked into an AD. They had a Daytona on display. I asked the price and they told me. This was late February and the USD to NZD exchange was in my favor. I said “I want to buy it”. They told me the display was not for sale and was a Rolex owned display model used to generate orders. I told them I would buy and they would not sell it to me. I was amazed. Left without it.

Unfortunately this is true. In this part of the world (and around Asia), Rolex do rotate pieces for display only. It also gives people the opportunity to try on pieces that are not ordinarily available for sale. Prior to Covid I travelled extensively around Asia (in particular Malaysia & Singapore) and you'll be amazed at the number of Subs/GMTs/Daytonas/SkyDwellers etc that are on display. When you get close you'll then see the little "Exhibition Only" sign underneath them.

I’m curious if it had stickers on it.

If they have a display card in front of it then yes it’s only for display.

If it doesn’t have a display card or has a reserved card, always ask.
