Air King 116900

this watch really starting to grow on me. I love the yellow green logo and how unique it is compared to other Rolex models. The only thing I’m not sure about the 3-6-9 missing that Lume the Explorer 1 has. In some pics it’s almost like they are non existent in certain lightning. I still haven’t seen this watch in person and I can’t wait to see what it will look like on my wrist.

Any opinions about this model will be much appreciated!

Watch is really nice in person and you are correct, in certain light the 3,6,9 really stand out and look great. But at other times they almost disappear and the face looks lost without them. The Lume filled 3,6,9 would really improve this watch a lot.

i've been wearing this one a lot. Got it on right now it's a very good under rated watch.

also probably as legible a watch i have owned, if tha's a concern for you.

i like the 369 made in white gold.

Personally don't get the attraction of Lume never found myself in a situation thinking "i wish i had more Lume"

Only benefit i can see to it if you wear it in bed and you want to see the time.

Would reccommend it highly.

I bought this watch because of its uniqueness, but sold it because of the white gold 3,6,9. It was too annoying when they blended into the dial.

A few changes that I fell would make this watch perfect. Either - change the 3,6,9 like the lume on the Explorer OR change the 3,6,9 to 15,30,45. The other change I’d suggest to make it more symmetrical would be to make the 1st 5 read 05. With just the 5 in the 1st position, it looks off.

I am liking mine. Especially after having a Everest strap in it.

It's arguably the most "playful" watch currently available in the Rolex lineup. Unabashedly so -- if you see yourself regularly in contexts where this makes sense and you like it, why not go for it? Certainly a unique dial in the Wilsdorf world.

I've been trying to locate an Air King locally for a few months now with no luck. I hope it's not discontinued in Septembers announcement.

Lume is overrated in my opinion, also the 5, and minutes/hours mix is because it’s a flieger design watch. The Air King has some design thought behind it, it’s not something haphazard like some seem to think. History, Story, Bloodhound speed record connection, Only watch with actual Rolex logo, and antimagnetic on top. What's there not to like.

Totally agree with this thinking (although i do like lume). I’m wearing mine as I type this, easily one of my favorite watches

Like others in this thread, I liked this watch when I bought it but really fell in love with it once I got it on a rubber Everest strap.

Really need to get on with buying one of these for mine. They look great on this watch. How does it feel comfort wise compared to the bracelet?

Love it. Definitely reduces the weight of the watch, which is nice given the heft due to the antimagnetic case. The rubber feels very well made and is particularly nice for the summer. Two thumbs up!
