Mayors Rolex stock -

Mayors jewelry florida region

I’m looking to purchase my second Rolex,
This would be the first from a mayors jeweler.
I am unquestionably looking for a submariner. A tough, rugged sporty watch. That I could leave on my wrist all the time.
I understand new updates to models will be revealed in September.
When do these models usually hit stores and does it pay to physically go to the stores once a week and keep checking for new inventory

So far I have been unimpressed with mayors.
I went to the Tampa location during the covid 19 pandemic and was refused to be put on a waiting list for any sports model.
The dealer was trying to sell me a date just 36 mm telling me how I could go scuba diving with a datejust Bc they were just as water resistant as submariners. (He also assumed I would need a payment plan to pay for the watch which annoyed me)
Later I went to a mayors jeweler in Miami the female clerk was much nicer. However due to my limited Spanish skills we had trouble communicating and I noticed her misspelling my address and email information while placing me on a waitlist for the submariner.

Finally, I called her a month later just to check if my information was correct in the computer system (I have never received any calls / emails for acknowledgment of my place in line. To be fair I’m not sure how any of the waiting list times work)
She than informed me that my cause would be helped if I purchased an item for myself or my girlfriend that I didn’t want to be pushed ahead on the waiting list.

I would appreciate any insight or thoughts you may have as you can see I’m rather a novice but I know what I want.

I would like to purchase this watch from a mayors boutique so I could have a new 2020 -2021 model and wouldn’t have to deal with the waitlist again. For work I travel all over florida and they are the most convenient boutique to get to.

I’ve also noticed Rolex forums and independent jewelers are running low on submariner stock a few months ago 2019 and 2020 subs were easier to find

My honest opinion, don't even bother with Mayors. At least not in Tampa. If you don't mind spending the extra money drive to Orlando and visit DavidSW.

I’d look elsewhere. Family owned AD.

Truly feel for you OP, as nowadays demand is MASSIVELY higher than supply. Nick in Tampa and Brad at UTC are great guys. They'd love to sell you all the Subs you desire, yet demand is huge and supply is short. Have you considered an OMEGA or Panerai, as there's many great timepieces out there.

If it must be a Sub right now, there's good suggestions from others here.

Mayors is the worst. Not much better in Orlando malls (2 of them have a mayors). DavidSW is right over here in Orlando as others mentioned and I purchased a SubC from Ben at Arnold Jewelers closer to you (grey dealer) a few years back. He was awesome!

Also, TRF Member LawrenceB is in Tampa. Check the For Sale Ad's to see if he has one available or PM him. Lawrence is great to deal with.

I always get a persnickety feeling from Mayors at UTC. Don’t know if it was Brad or not though.

OP, is the only obsession with Mayors a slight convenience factor? If so I’d say an extra hour of your time may make your life a lot easier by going outside of Mayors.

Is there a reason why Mayors is not liked? I first visited one in Atlanta not too long ago (and surprised they had Grand Seiko)...They didn't have much of what I was looking for with Rolex, but the staff was very nice.

There's also a family owned AD near me that I will most likely buy from, but was just trying to find anybody with a 36 and/or 39 OP in stock.

I get that you’re focusing on a Sub - limiting your choice of seller to Mayors is what I don’t get...

Once you buy it, you don’t need to see the seller again.

I'm sorry, but without purchase history, you have no chance securing a Submariner @ Mayors.

They would immediately sense that your purchase would be a one and done "dead end" and they simply cannot waste limited availability pieces on those kind of transactions.

Sucks OP. Watches, specifically Rolexes, are a terrible hobby to get into right now especially if you lack patience. I’d either find another brand or just move on for the time being

Went to Mayors last year before I flew back to NY for an impulse buy. Was with my girlfriends father at the time who wasn't looking. He just so happened to have his rolex on and got pretty much all of the attention. I, on the other hand, had mostly cold shoulder with forced conversations and also offered the payment plan. Was a little disappointed at the experience.

Why would they bother in any way to supply a Sub to a dead end buyer, when they have to supply they existing clients with them?

I understand that this strategy on the part of the AD is a massive EGO blow to many Rolex shoppers, especially new one as they can't understand why they just can't get what they WANT like everything else they deem worthy of their attention....BUT the AD has to work around limited availability and somebody will lose...guess who that will be?

For them to sell him a Sub...that would indeed be nonsense...

This is truly the best advice.

Without already having a foot in the game, sourcing from an AD isn't possible, especially Mayors. One could try a smaller, independent..but still not likely being cold off the street.

If the OP has oneitis when it comes to the watch he wants, then sourcing from grey is the easiest route..

If unwilling to pay the premiums, then moving on and out for the time being is the best course.

I think the reason he said nonsense is because your basic premise is wrong. The part about supplying existing clients and he’s a dead end buyer. Here’s why your wrong. They have no way of knowing what his future purchases might be and a sub is usually a first purchase. Also wouldn’t these existing buyers already have their subs? So they aren’t going to buy it anyway. You keep making this argument in multiple threads but it’s just not the way business is done at every AD. Some AD’s actually want new customers.

The AD, especially Mayors, base your future sales on your past sales. They won't risk not having a key watch for a big client on a "chance" that they "might" get some new and continuing business off of some guy. They just don't have the resources to do that right now. This has been going on for almost 3yrs now..not anything new or outlandish, so I don't see anyway that I'm wrong. Sorry. Otherwise you wouldn't see all these tales of woe when trying to buy a hot Rolex off of a big chain AD...

The AD can acquire new customers by selling that customer something else, then build from there. That happens all the time. If the customer isn't flexible and only wants the one watch, then...well.

I keep making this argument because it's what is happening. Really happening, especially at large chain AD like Mayors.

If it wasn't we wouldn't have this thread...the OP would be posting about an incoming watch, but he isn't unfortunately.

Majors in FL has always been like that. Unfortunately OP you have little chance of getting a Sub from them, or avoiding the waitlist for the new novelties in September.

All professional Rolex’s are selling like fire, I havn’t seen a SS professional model in an AD since 2019 and that was a yacht master.

I’d broaden your search away from Majors and try all other ADs you will likely have more luck.

Well, you just said the same thing again. And you didn’t say anything about the point I made about the big client already having their sub. The fact that an AD has limited stock doesn’t make you right and me wrong.

Thanks for the info
I won’t hold my breath expecting to be contacted back.
Still raises the question:
How expensive does the extra purchase need to be to expedited on the waiting list ?

Also correct me if I’m wrong but ....
I though places like Rolex shops and mayors boutiques were trying to prevent a single buyer purchasing multiple watches and reselling them immediately for higher cost.

So all big clients already have Submariners

That simply isn't true.

The fact that the AD has limited stock and the AD strategy because of that is why we are having this topic posted on TRF

With Mayors they usually consider you to be a worthy client @ about $100k, but that can be over time.

Mix of jewelry and watches...etc. That's what they are looking for. Repeat, hassle free business. Then you get calls regarding the limited items organically.

The truth is hard to accept for some people. OP should look at smaller ADs.

Is it still possible to walk in randomly and see one ?
Or is that a complete waste of time and footwork ?

They won't have a SS sub to look at.

They might...just might have a TT or PM sub in the case.

I would say in that market, with that chain, probably not even those...

Your best bet to get one in state is to drive to DavidSW shop in Orlando. He has them and you can look at them and everything.

Not all clients, obviously. Doesn’t change anything though in terms of an AD wanting new customers. You assume the AD is holding a sub for a “big client”. Is that a big client like Bryant Park or maybe some guy with a couple of datejusts and a GMT? You seem to be an authority and speak in absolutes, not every potential buyer is on TRF and my guess based on my experiences is some buyers get their first Rolex, a sub, from an AD.
