A couple months ago I was trying to push a set of Black Bays, 36 and 32 blue for a 10 year wedding anniversary. It was the closest thing I could find to a matching pair that suited our style and budget. Thank you to TRF for the guidance away from that path. Two different watches is going to be a much better outcome. My wife will probably end up with an OP 36 or 34, white dial, we are waiting to see what happens next week on that front. Our anniversary is next Friday, and my wife was gracious enough to let me start wearing mine now seeing as she won't have anything to open for some time anyways.
So here is my Black Back Fifty-Eight Blue. I called several stores and was told it would be a while even after stating I was fine with cloth or leather. I am planning on the 58 being a strap monster so I can let my 114060 rest where it belongs on an oyster. (just got it back on the oyster today after three months, pure excellence) One of the ADs from a town I fly to frequently called with a BB58 available on cloth. I was elated by the news. They were even good enough to drive it to the airport for me as I was just on a quick stop between training flights. The cloth strap felt nice but even adjusted as large as it would go I was using the second to last hole and was not a fan of the small tag end not even making it to the second strap keeper. The AD was good enough to trade the cloth out for leather and even agreed to get me the brown leather from the BB 58 black, as brown will see much more use than blue would. They took the cloth off and sent me packing with a strapless watch. Leather will be in the mail. I did not mind at all. |
