Used Hulk sells for $21,000 Sothebys

2019 Hulk sold at Sothebys auction 2 weeks ago for just shy of $21,000!

https://www.sothebys.com/en/buy/auct...lv-a?locale=en

There is another one listed thats a US auction, it ends in 7 days. Should be interesting to see where the bidding ends. We are in uncharted waters with these Hulk prices.

The auctions aren't really representative of the real world market. A Pepsi sold at an auction recently for over $30K.

Some shady business going on behind the scenes undoubtedly

Well, that's rather the point -- that isn't the price of a Hulk. It's casually available for well less than that (and there was nothing special about the one at auction).

One assumes that money laundering or some similarly shady practice is involved.

$18,000+ seems the average cost for a fairly new Hulk with papers/tags now.

Well if it's normal now for a steel PP 5711 to sell for triple retail, why is it strange for an iconic Rolex diver to reach triple price. 5 years ago it was hard to sell a 5711 for much over retail in the region I come from.

Bidders in this auction aren't looking at Chrono24! I put in a bid for the sky dweller and someone else increased it to well above the price of at least 10 brand new 2020 identical watches with full documents and protective stickers still intact from reputable grey dealers in the USA. Freight by Sothebys is also usually higher.

I think someone posted last time a watch was sold at sothebys. We commented on how the auction house charge at least 25% comission. Also how it's not representative of anything.

But super exciting for the green sub owners looking to sell to their peers. You may be able to scalp them even more!

There’s no rules against drinking and bidding. Happy for whoever made the most money.

Too much for a Hulk. I'd say 16k usd is more than enough imo...
