Hi there - some will likely stick on the house insurance. I personally use assetsure who are pretty good - that said, I’ve not needed to make a claim.

If you have home insurance, you can usually add it on as a separate valuable, I'm with AXA and did that. Even covers it when out of house if stolen.
The rate is around 1% premium per year on the value of the item.

TH March. They do specific policies for jewellery. Good to deal with as well.

I use ArtSure home insurance. Very good prices. I have a large collection (20 plus watches to insure) and all the other home insurers, or stand alone policies, became far too expensive. OP - DM me if you need an intro.

Presumably you have existing content insurance for your belongings?

I have everything insured with Hiscox - pricey but peace of mind.

There have been some other threads on this if you do a quick search.

Mine are added to my Aviva household policy. Had to move away from Sainsbury as they wouldnt offer cover over a certain value (£20k??)

My recent experience:
Aviva and LV seem reasonable for adding watches to home insurance policy.
Hiscox good but very pricey now.
TH March £2k to insure a 5712 standalone

I have mine with LV on my home insurance policy inc cover away from home. Condition is I have a safe and an alarm on the house but when watch is on my wrist I am covered. Works out about £60 per watch pa over and above standard cover which I think is reasonable

Yea problem with that is how do they value it retail or actual 'grey price' I asked them didnt get a clear answer was jusy "what it is to replace" which would normally mean retail but as we know you cant just get a ss sport at retail so bit of a grey area. I think you would end up being paid the rrp price and left to make up the rest to grey in the event of a claim

Use Ripe insurance - cover the market value of the watch, though at valuation (they won’t increase mid-year).
Little expensive but separate from house insurance and covered anywhere; even suspicious disappearance.

I have had this conversation with my Insurance Co. If you value it at the retail price then come a claim they will pay you that amount give or take, as they are unlikely to be able to source one for you. If this is the case you then have a shortfall to make up if you want to buy it grey. A jeweller will quote the higher market/grey value in their valuation figure so that is the figure you should really insure for. Hope this helps

The premium is based on the value I set. Asset sure work with watchfinder so know the difference between retail and market value. Get an appraisal to back up your value insured however.

Aviva seems to do the trick for me.

John Lewis home insurance covers one watch up to £10k as an add on. Includes theft and wearing out of home, of course. Proof of ownership and serial number required when I added it.

M&S up to 15k per single article to a maximum of 35k total,Jewellery value. I have them upped the Total amount and pay a small additional premium. Dedicated watch insurance is typically more expensive as the risk is concentrated rather than being spread over a larger customer base.

Old fashioned insurance brokers can also often access policies not available online and offer a tailored quote based on watch values. Again these tend to be less than dedicated insurance policies. Hope this helps.

I use UIS home insurance. Just added SD43 to my policy. Increased it by £10 with 7 months left till renewal.
