Day-Date Help
Need some help friends….
Long story short….decided to ride the motorcycle with the old man and we went by my AD just to say hi and see how things were post 9/1 with the launch. Discussed Rolex and the like, and they let me try some stuff they had in the case on (a TT Sky-D, a TT Sea-Dweller, and a 116509 Blue Dial) as we made more chit chat. My AD knows I love the classic Day-Date sans roman numerals and he brought out one for me to try on (yellow gold, motif dial, stick markers) and I fell in love. Now, the only problem is I would have to see a piece to acquire the Day Date. My AD would eat up the taxes and also discount a little ($34k USD OTD) but I was hoping for more in the lower 30’s. So my questions are as follows: Owning a 116500 (white), a 126715, A 114060, an IWC Big Pilot, and an Omega Speedmaster (I gave my Seamaster to my dad) one would have to get moved if I decide to purchase it. More of my thought is to the CHNR but I am open to suggestions. So what say you? As always, thanks for the replies and helping someone spend thousands of dollars. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If money isn’t an object and it’s the DD that you want then go for it. I paid full price on mine but bought a PM bluesy and received 10% on that at same time. So our discounts are pretty similar. The YouTube boys are hyping this watch and it’s getting tougher to buy. |

I would say sell the white dialed 116500 Daytona at the crazy prices they are today and capitalize on a solid gold DD.

That’s a great price you’re getting! The Daytona seems like the one to sell with the prices they are commanding. That DD is much nicer than the Daytona in my biased opinion.

Sell whatever you feel like wearing the least.
You won't be wearing much else after you get the DD anyway. |

Hi J,
Hang on to the Daytona. (I'm still the heir in your will, right ;^) ). Sell the Sub. With your AD relationship, you should be able to replace it with the new 124060 when/if you want to. Congratulations and good luck. |

Daytona is so tough to replace. I think trading the 126715 is the way to go. Gold for gold. Less out of pocket and then you still have good diversity with Daytona, Sub, and DD40 (on the Rolex front). All different case styles and looks.

Beautiful DD and You will Love it! I just got a 40mm and it is a favorite for sure. Having to part with one sucks. Maybe the sub but I'd look at all options to keep them all if possible. Good Luck!

These have gone up in value bigtime as well. I picked mine up for $27k BNIB but from a gray dealer. Grays like David are listing these for $35k now as well so if your getting this from an AD for $34k its a good deal. Regarding the trade I would get rid of either the IWC Big Pilor or the 114060. Both are and will be easy to replace and maybe you can even try the new sub in the future plus I dont like ND watches Go and get that DD40!!!!! |

I say sell the Sub. Will definitely be easiest to replace when the time is right. And if you are interested in the LV this will definitely bump you up a few spots on that list.

I would say goodbye to either the sub or the GMT, the Daytona is a nice compliment to the Day Date when you don’t want to wear the big gold but my guess is the day date will get a TON of wrist time out of the gate.

Currently obsessed and near ready to buy my dream watch...
YG DD40, black dial, baguettes. AD called a day ago and said they got one in... Now, there is not one, but two, in this thread ..with great pics. (Well, one is not baguettes, but it’s a tough choice) Oh. This is getting dangerous. Love. That. Watch. |

This is actually the most logical and smart thing to do. If we were to treat watches as pure trading commodities its the perfect time right now to cash in on the hype and get a free upgrade.

Unless you are a gold guy, I'd get rid of the CHNR. That DD is amazing.

WOW, hard choice. Most definitely get the DD for sure. Like some other posts have said, it will surly get lots of wear time. I really like my sport watch, but I love my DD. I’m on the thin side and my Rosegold DD 36 works perfect for me. By the way, I wear my with just about everything. The watch you are considering is truly beautiful and will match anything you wear. Just do it. Good luck.
