Old warranty cards on 2020 releases
I made a thread 3 days ago about old warranty cards on new releases. And linked this watch to show that. It was dismissed as Photoshop. However since then I have stumbled across a few more new releases with old style warranty cards:
OP41 blue sunburst dial in UK Black date Sub in Spain Cermit in the USA Bluesy in Spain That's already 5 watches. All different models. An OP41 and 4 different Subs, ND, black SS, Cermit and Bluesy. The Cermit even has the new bracelet code of the new Sub on it. If someone was editing it, it would be easier to edit one of those cards that don't state the bracelet instead of trying to edit that bracelet on there prefectly. At this point I don't think it's Photoshopped (or OK, maybe the ND is since people seemed to think it was a bad edit, I'll give you that, but all 5?) and seems like some of the new releases actually do come with the old cards, so the only logical conclusion would be that they were shipped to ADs before the new cards. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think Rolex is just rolling out those cards gradually and some new watches received now still come with old cards? Or do you think all of those are edited? |

Old warranty cards on 2020 releases
I got a 2020 Sub in May 2020. It came with the old style card. I got a BLNR in June 2020 and it came with the new style card.

I got a 116618LB 2 weeks ago and got an old-style card. Is this a problem or?

It just depends on when the watch was made. One may have been bought the day it arrived at the AD and the other may have been sitting in the safe for a while waiting on the right customer.

Purchase date and manufacturing date are two different things. There have been threads about older watches that were bought years after their serial number range.

That’s very strange IMO. You figure the new watches would come with the new cards. OP is not referring to previously released watches that were recently bought. He’s specifically talking about the releases from this month, which was WEEKS after the new cards started showing up. My guess is there were old cards still sitting around when the physical watch was made. My SkyD has new card, so maybe it was actually produced after some of the new release watches were produced. But my SkyD was shipped to dealer before new releases since the new releases had not been released yet.

Pepsi WG July - new card. I'd imagine the new subs have been in production for a while so may have been pre-June or so and hence the old card. To enable all ADs to get stocks soon after 1st September, they'd have been working on them for a while.

Some of the new models being delivered now were produced months ago, some a few weeks ago.
The facility used whatever card they had in stock.

I think it’s by region. My AD told me in some countries they already hve new warranty cards, in some they don’t. They’ll probably roll it out slowly, doesn’t mean anything. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

These watches were probably boxed, warehoused, and ready to be shipped after Baselworld. That didn't happen, so here we are, about a year or more after they were actually manufactured and packaged.

My understanding is that the cards are actually printed at the local distributor once they are allocated to that specific AD, hence there are some variations between card formats in different countries (e.g. different date format, NA cards have the dial/bracelet info printed). |

Not a new phenomenon with Rolex back in 2007 when the change from paper to the credit card style happened there was a mixture.

This is no different than the NOS Batman, LV and Two tone LV that were retired, and reissued the past month to US AD's with a new card. These were retired the past 2 years. Apparently, a box was shipped to Rolex USA full of NOS GMT's. They were then allocated to Big AD's throughout the US quietly.
