OP41 or 36 for 6.25inch wrist

Asking for a friend, he has fairly smaller wrists at 6.25, but hes tall with bigger hands. DJ41 looks better on him than 36 in his opinion, but I know that it isn't a true 41. Any thoughts on whether he could pull off an OP41? Anyone have it yet with wrists in that range?

He has a chance to order one but he won't be able to try either of them on before arrival.

I'm tall (6' 1") with slim wrists, also, so I understand the dilemma. But 36mm is such a classic size that always looks right. The OP41 is all dial and won't look good - it's not like wearing a 40mm diver with bezel and smaller dial or a 42mm Speedmaster with extra subdials.

I think it really depends on what your friend is used to wearing. It's pretty important to get the sizing correct - otherwise it would likely be a regretful purchase. Sounds like your friend likes his watches to wear larger / sportier.

If he prefers the DJ41 vs. 36 - I feel like same preference would apply to the OP.

This is very spot-on advice. Not sure what dial color he's interested in, but maybe he could look for a NOS OP 39mm before they all disappear. Just a thought.

I’d go for the 36 personally. The dial on the 41 will probably look ungainly on your wrist. Plus, it may feel uncomfortable.

36mm is the best size for the OP. I find it the best size for all the “classic” non sports Rolex.

Honestly the outgoing 39 would be perfect. I would not get a 36 personally. Just too small and more of a woman's size at this point.

Sage advice. I feel the same way about the OP41. All dial and therefore a little large.

I love my OP36.

For you the 36mm. Its a function of wrist size. I have a 7.25” wrist and own a 41mm and it looks amazing. I thought the 36mm On my wrist looked... lets just say small.

If he has 6.25 inch wrists and he thinks the DJ41 looks better on him than the DJ36, he's wrong. The only thing that matters is the wrist size. Not arm length or height. I'm short but have 7.5 inch wrists. DJ41 looks good on me. DJ36 looks a bit like a child's toy. I know people who are the opposite.

As far as DJ41 not being a true 41, most likely the OP41 isn't either.

It all depends on if his wrist is flat or round. You could have a small wrist that is flat and wider and it the 41 could look normal. You might have a more round wrist but the lug to lug length looks off

I have a 6.3" wrist and am 6'1" tall. I went with the new OP 36 as it looked more proportional on my wrist and dressier. For reference I also have my Omega Seamaster AT8900, which is a true 41mm. I think even the 41 is pushing it, even for myself.

They can look very different on a 6.25” wide wrist Vs 6.25” narrow wrist

As a general rule, old guys prefer the smaller watches. These days I see tons of women, with small wrists, comfortably wearing 36m.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. I just learned that a deposit was already placed for a black op41 that should be arriving within the next month or so. I guess he has no choice now, but if it looks too big, he's open to swapping for a 36. I'll have him send some wrist shots to update the thread when received.

People get too caught up in the advertised size. The DJ 41 is actually 39.xx mm and having an OP 41 it ‘wears’ like a 39mm watch despite the advertised size. While the dial itself is big the case dimensions are smaller.

I've tried a DJ41, it's on the cusp of whether it's too big.

The new sub looks right. GMT Master II and Daytona look perfect on my wrist. But the Daytona does look a bit smaller than the GMT Master II.

Tried on a DJ36 and thought that looked a little bit small on my wrist.

For context, my wrist is between 6.5-6.75"

Just wanted to see a couple more wrist shots of these since it's hard to catch the AD one with to try on...

One thing that I’ve noticed but hasn’t been mentioned is the choice of bracelet. The 36 can look small on a jubilee but looks good on the oyster. On the other hand, the 41 might look good on the jubilee and big on the oyster. The oyster bracelet with its larger links does add heft to the look while the jubilee reduces it. So this I feel is another consideration when choosing the appropriate watch.

As an example I am perfectly happy with my OP36 on oyster but felt the DJ36 on jubilee looked a bit small, even for me. Although our tastes do change and I’m not somewhat kicking myself for not pulling the trigger on the DJ36.

Tim from Watchbox is extremely optimistic with this wrist size recommendations. I will always add at least 1 inch on top of his recommendation. But above all, you must wear the watch in person and as long as you feel it is right and the lugs don't overhand from the edge of your wrist, that is all that matters.

Yeah, his recommendations for minimum wrist sizes seemed 1 inch off you're right. But in the video you can see the watch fits him, it wouldn't work if he went -1cm. But I'm just wondering if he actually has a 16cm wrist or if it's actually larger.

My sweet spot is the 36mm.
