Out of +2/-2 EXPII

Afternoon people, just a quick question or two, my EXP II 216570 is still under warranty until July 2022 and is currently running about +3.7/4s per day, which isn't a major issue, rather fast than slow, but I'm just curious:
1. Will Rolex regulate it back to +2/-2s under warranty?
2. Over time do Rolex movements normally slow or speed up over time?

Thanks guys

I wouldn’t worry about that tracking, I’ve sent mine in but that is for 12s or inconsistent timing over a minute etc. actually have a watch that I’ve sent in for the 4 time in 2 months.

Over time it will suddenly just go way out of spec and stay there, or just stop working, it isn’t a slow process in my 20+ years of experience.

I can’t answer your question, but thought I’d throw it out there that I’m in the same boat. Bought the same watch, preowned, have had it for about 4 months and it’s +4 sec/d. Same thought as the OP; it’s not a big deal at all but curious how long I should give it before considering the possibility of sending to RSC. Thanks all.

You might try topping off the power reserve with a manual wind once a week. My sub is happiest when the mainspring is fully wound and maintains about +1-1.5s/d. I have gone months without winding it and the timekeeping is more like +2-3s/d. Not a big difference I know but occasional winding might get you back to advertised spec.

If your AD has on staff watchmakers, they can regulate it for you and it will not have to go back to RSC. If it is out of +/-2 seconds spec, it is under warranty.

Crown up overnight may get it to +2s/day .
Send it for service in 2022 AND tell them the watch is out of spec fast or send it in now if it bothers you .

Same here with my Polar Expl2 brand new May 2020, consistent with +5 to +6 sec/day. I will have it sent to local RSC.

They could regulate it to say +1 second on a machine, but this dont mean it will perform exactly the same on the wrist far to many variables.Like gravity, mainspring power-reserve,different temperatures, shocks on the wrist plus many others. There is no way I would entertain getting the back off any watch for what in the real world is 2 seconds difference or less out of 86400 in a day.

I took some measurements last week and it was averaging +3.7s P/D and this week is a little higher, it does however, like it on the winder, +1.5s P/D, so even better, if there was only a way of slowing it down a bit

I highly doubt your way of measuring is accurate.

If it is truly out of spec then yes they will regulate it though.

At night do you lay it down dial facing up? If so, lay it on its side, crown facing up. As another poster suggested, this will slow it down a bit

All concerned about a couple of seconds a day should take a close look at this and really consider whether it is that big an issue.

This post reminds me of those that take a macro lens to their new watch and find all sorts of faults. It's a watch for crying out loud, just F#%king wear it.

Hope is not a strategy.

Forget this apps nonsense ....

Do it the right way :

Wear it .
Leave it crown up or flat or dial down overnight .Hard surface like a glass top bedside table .(No,your crystal wont scratch )
See what you get by measuring against a standard in the mornings .
Easy !

Most accurate watch I have owned : 4130 Daytona
Most inaccurate : IWC Big Pilot +10 s (Huge auto movement ,not supposed to be accurate ,BUT very consistent which actually makes it very accurate .)
