RubberB and the EasyLink
RubberB says to remove your EasyLink when installing their strap. But what happens when you need that little extra length?
A quick mod solved this issue. Took me about 10 minutes after some measuring. Why doesnt RubberB do this in the first place and make a few different lengths to accommodate the EasyLink?

Technically it weakens the strap by cutting that. The leading piece is properly moulded and is much stronger.
The likelihood is that where you have made your cuts there will be excess cuts that will ultimately lead to it potentially tearing. You need to monitor it very carefully otherwise one day it will just give way and boom - watch hits the ground. |

RubberB and the EasyLink

Yes but you have not cut it absolutely cleanly. Your cuts will certainly have over extended and they can potentially split. As for why RubberB don’t make them to fit - how can they? The only way to do that is have specific sized pieces that don’t require to be cut. You asked a question which I’m answering as a RubberB dealer that sells and fits them for a living. |

Way too much to lose counting on a millimeter of rubber. Could you have left more rubber and had it butt up to the inner link. It looks like more could fit

Looking at the picture on my desktop I can see that the rubber does go to the edge of the inner link. Looks like a great solution. Send idea to RubberB; this should have been the way they implemented it. (have a finished end and customer selects band length by number of links, just like they do with glidelock bands)

Sorry just cannot see the point of these overpriced rubber B or any other rubber strap.Rolex always looks best on what they came from the factory with, and many change only after worry about any scratches they done by changing.

RubberB and the EasyLink

There is a problem with that. Each different size piece requires an individual mould and since there are about 7 size options that’s a lot of individual moulds. The range of colour options for the M103 straps means production costs would ramp up. Dealers like me would also have to carry stock of all the different size combinations which would be cost prohibitive. I can tell you now RubberB will not change it since there’s actually nothing wrong with the existing system. |

The glidelock series only comes in one colour (for the Sub), and the adjustability by using combinations of two different lengths is because the end that screws into the links is properly moulded into each piece, and is a much stronger design than would be guaranteed by using a razor to make cuts that could potentially split and leave RubberB open to all kinds of legal issues were it to fail. I’m sure they’ve considered this in their design phase and have obviously decided upon the current form of the straps as they are after much deliberation. Despite being rarely asked I do occasionally cut them to fit the Easylink for customers, and indeed I sometimes will cut the M103CD with the green stripe for Hulk owners (that would usually be a glidelock strap) but it’s done with the proviso that it’s at their own risk and they assume full responsibility if it fails. |
