Purchasing through Private Seller - Tips?

Hi all, I am considering purchasing a Breitling through a local seller for an in person exchange. He has all of the paperwork and warranty.

What tips and advice would you give for this transaction? It’s a mid 4 figure exchange. Aside for me contacting the Breitling after the purchase to put the warranty in my name, anything else you recommend that I do? If I call Breitling with the serial number will they give me any info or confirm who bought it? Or confirm it’s not stolen? I’m probably a bit overboard but I’ve never bought a watch this expensive from a private seller. I am planning to meet in a police station lobby so that it’s on camera and recorded. My first choice would be at an AD, but I’m sure they don’t confirm authenticity or allow these types of exchanges.

Thanks very much.

Breitling warranties (5 years on in house movements / 2 years on non- in house) follow the watch as long as current owner is in possession of the digital warranty card and said card was properly activated when sold at the AD. I don't believe Breitling will disclose any information about original owner or history if you contact them.
