Gilt 5513

This gilt 5513 is coming up for auction and I have a couple of concerns, I don't want to reschedule my time to go and see something that turns out to be a lemon.

I have 2 concerns, namely the case appears to be very chunky especially around the crown guards and it's advertised as coming on a spring loaded 7602 with 80 end links...

any comments?

It’s a very nice Swiss only underline 5513 Swiss only dial. I believe it’s a later case.

I know this watch. It’s a transitional underline from 1964. Usually seen in PCG cases but this one is correct and in one of the very first cases with non-pcg crown guards. Dial is glossy and nice with some dirt on the indices. There are some faint marks on the dial that I don’t know if it is aging or small scratches. Some lume have been repaired on the hands and the scratches could be from when that lose lume was cleaned off. Overall a very pretty and rare piece. Priced very attractively imho. It’s not perfect though so each to their own on that. Underlines generally fetch a much higher price but this is transitional and condition is nice yet far from perfect.

Case and serial confirmed many years ago by the great Marcello Pisani.

Regarding the bracelet I don’t know as it was found on a solid one. It is however an easy conversion to make a 7206 springloaded and as simple of a fix to restore it back if you want to.

Feel free to DM if you have any questions.

Thanks Per for the images and input! That's a stunning case! I mention the bracelet as I bought a 7206 bracelet some years ago which I now believe could be fake, it is spring loaded with 80 end links. A collector friend mentioned that fake spring loaded 7206 bracelets had started to pop up on e-bay and I found them for sale there.

I was offered the watch in December this year and saw it in person. I don’t recall if the bracelet was springloaded or not but it was authentic. As most rivets are restored at some point it just means that the person that restored it either had it converted or kept it fixed. Springloaded or not can’t be a decent tell on authenticity. Links, clasp, ends etc is what will tell you what it is.

Focus on the watch. The bracelet is just a very small part of the overall value. But just to be clear. It was authentic ten months ago. I would have noticed if it was bad.
