Scammed and Hacked!

Warning, I was unfortunately scammed on TZ for quite a bit of money. Although I though I did proper research on the seller and references, I was really fooled. Now to make it even worse, it appears this a__hole has used my credentials on Watchnet to scam someone else.

Did you talk to him on the phone?

I sent a PM in reply to his post and he also had a phone number (in Ohio) listed. We spoke once on the phone and numerous text messages. If you want to send me a message we can talk in person. As for the hack, I’ve been suddenly banned from another forum where I’ve had a perfect history and cannot get any answers or even talk to ADMIN, so something must have happened.

You should enable 2 factor authentication here ASAP.

This.

And even if you do/did, I'd always verify that it's not a VOIP/Google Voice number. If someone isn't willing to talk to you via their actual mobile number, then hard-pass IMO.

Sorry to hear, OP, scammer scums! I usually reverse-search phone numbers to make sure they’re not VOIP, and I usually ask to either video chat or at least a phone call

Yeah i guess, but it takes 2 to get scammed. Why not just buy from the long long long long list of trusted sellers here and avoid all the extra efforts, stress, and tears.

In retrospect it’s always easy to see how we or someone else could have done things differently. I’ve unveiled many scammers who I’ve come in contact with in the past, but this one got by me and I’m pissed. I didn’t start this thread to complain or be told how naive I may have been, but only to share what happened so hopefully none of us get fooled again.

I think one main reason anyone would buy from someone not on the "trusted" sellers list is because of prices. Most of the times the trusted sellers cost about $1,500 to $2000 more than your average private seller. Also, if you're buying from the same state as the seller, they charge sales tax as well. At the end of the day, it could be a difference of $3k to $4k.

It's a lot of saving when you initially start out, but once you get scammed it becomes apparent that it wasn't worth the risk.

Personally, I had a good experience buying from a seller on here that isn't "trusted". I guess I got lucky but I completely understand why anyone would do it. The crazy inflated prices for SS sports Rolex these days is probably a scammers wet dream.

Agreed. I’ve purchased from both trusted sellers and paid more, but have also had some good experiences with “regular” sellers where I saved some money. I’ve come in contact with scammers before, but was able to detect the scam and avoid getting burned. This one was well planned and I didn’t realize it until it was too late. I feel foolish and very pissed! There’s no end to the scumbags that try to steal from others.

I'm sorry you've had this experience. You mentioned this was a particularly well-planned scam. In hindsight, what were some red flags that may potentially prevent others from being scammed.

A red flag was poor quality live phone call. Always check all forms of contact (I used PM, one live phone call and text messages) and did NOT email through the forum where I found out later the email address was no good.
