The price difference between SS and Gold is becoming more and more farther apart again as it has been traditionally.

SS rose in price more than Gold in recent years but now Gold pieces are surging ahead in value. Its how it should have always been.

Why pay $26k for a SS Daytona when in the past Gold was only selling for like $28k. Now these Gold Daytona's are like $35k+ and $40k+ for full precious metal bracelets.

The price differentiation is normalizing again people realizing SS is not worth it. For me I'd pick gold over SS anyday of the week. I've always said the price rises in SS was simply for the fact that there are 1000s and 1000s more customers at that price point. Now since everyone is a millionaire during covid free money handouts Gold has regained its position as king.

I have both and the White Gold OF version looks amazing , I feel the white dial steel Daytona is a bit boring to look at.
The black dial steel version looks a lot better in my opinion..

If you're paying retail then the steel version makes the most sense, if you're buying from a grey then I'd get the gold

Depends on who you’re trying to impress. For me it’s not even a question. WG is on another level.

Perhaps I'm in the minority here, but I certainly don't think "everyone has become a millionaire" in the past few months.

The SS Daytona at MSRP makes some sense to me. A gold Daytona at 35 to 40 thousand make no sense. There are many other places I would want to put that money.

Heavier hitter and more prestigious?

Any bubble gum looking Richard Mille. Also harder to find than any current production Cosmograph.

The steel daytona is the cool factor historically and now. I would feel owning that in retail price is the cool factor watch.

However as you clearly say “heavy hitter” - a PM piece has to be more heavy hitting than steel

I like the WG but don't care for oysterflex. For that reason, I'd go SS...

If the WG came on a bracelet... that'd be a diff story

I have a hard time with the oysterflex on a precious metal watch. I think there is a trendiness to it now but down the road I could see myself thinking why did I do that. Only because it is not possible to add a factory gold bracelet to it, which is a shame.

Buy what you like not what is a "heavy hitter" or what you think your watch will say about you to others. These threads are always so silly, to spend money to impress others.

Steel Daytona is a heavier hitter IMO. If you own one, you’re either a VIP at an AD or have more money than sense!

I'd sleep better knowing I paid msrp for WG instead of double for SS. Also I believe the WG dial is the best looking one out there for a Daytona. Prestigious? Hmm.. Wouldn't that also be what PM is all about.

Exactly but today many wear the image created by the net and not the actual watch thinking they impress.

With term like heavy hitter. god give me strength

There's no right answer to this as everyone has their choice and reasons for it. But WG is my choice option.

Am not sure what you mean by "heavy hitter" or that its more "prestigious" but my view is simply the WG Oysterflex Daytona is a striking watch visually and is the best looking Daytona in the current Rolex catalogue, IMHO.

WG at MSRP or St St at Grey prices? Depends on what you want most, whether you are willing to pay the price of PM or the inflated price of St St. So no real answer it all depends on the person buying the watch. Myself, I have a WG Oysterflex model which I got a discount on ( two years ago) before their popularity took off.
