Well, one is $10K over MSRP and the other is $15K over MSRP so neither IMO

What is your wrist size? SkyD would be much harder to pull off if your wrist is 7in or less.

Wrist size is a factor. The Skydweller blue is stunning but wears big, especially on the bracelet. In my oppinion If your wrist size is smaller than 7inches the daytona will wear better.

This is the most logical answer to your question, OP.

This take is both hilarious and unfortunately quite true. I have tried to talk myself into the Black Daytona and white Skydweller just to make them easier to obtain, but I can't do it.

The Daytona is a better fit on paper, the Skydweller sits big. Suggest try before buy.

Also... when in doubt, the answer is always.... both

You’re debating between two very very very very different watches. In fact the only thing they really have in common is their extreme popularity and secondary market value. Well... I suppose PCL’s also. The answer is actually an easy one... if you can get some sort of baseline for what type of watch you want. I own both except my skyD is a black dial. The most dramatic difference is the fit. The SkyD is not for the faint of wrists. It’s significantly thicker than the daytona and will certainly wear much larger. It’s also much flashier with the fluted bezel. My recommendation would be to find some way to try them on. One will sing more to you or you will end up getting both.

If I had to live with just one I’d likely go daytona. But I’d rather have both and then not have to worry about which is the right one!

I’m lucky enough to have both. If I had to choose one it would definitely be the Daytona.

Yes, the Daytona is the best option considering your wrist size.

Whichever YOU prefer.

Personally if I could only have one, I’d have the 116500 white dial

Oddly enough, I was asked something similar recently by someone who is looking to buy a watch.

The question was whether it's better to buy a Sub, Exp 2, Daytona or Air-King.

I was at a loss to answer because not only are all difficult to get at MSRP from an AD, they are such different watches. The word "better'' means so many things to so many different people that it's difficult to come up with a one-size-fits-all answer.

Two dissimilar watches with little in common but the maker's name. The better buy is the one you want the most.

Which one do you want the most?

If both, then buy the first one you can get for the lowest acquisition price and start saving for the second.

Mine is the same and I love the blue dial Sky Dweller. But I am partial to large watches. The complications are very useful as I travel a great deal internationally. Have had two Daytonas but found the chronograph not useful with its screw in pushers and the dials too small to read easily. Also I am very partial to having a date on a watch.

I own two PM Daytona's and two SS Sky-Dwellers and if I had to go with a one and only it would be the SS Daytona-C. I like the white dial Daytona-C but the black works better for me. I actually used my SS Daytona-C Black Dial as a partial trade for one of my PM Daytona's. I have a large wrist at 7.5-7.75 and can easily wear the SD and the Daytona-C. I do not believe you can go wrong with a Daytona and I would give it a try and see. I have owned the Blue Sky-Dweller and it is beautiful but not worth the 5k premium over the black dial or the 7k over the white dial. Good luck and let us know what you decide.
