Is This a Genuine Rolex Box?

Hi, everyone. I'm new to Rolex and Rolex Forums.

Is there natural, minor variability in Rolex boxes or do I have a fake box (and potentially fake Rolex) on my hands?

There are two notable discrepancies I've spotted between the box for my Datejust I bought at a Rolex boutique last month and the 126710BLNR I bought through eBay last week. In particular, 1) the center, top panel of the boutique box is somewhat raised above the border that surrounds the panel, while the eBay panel is flush with the surrounding border; 2) inside the eBay box on the half that flips up, the bottom of crown above "ROLEX" looks rather thin, whereas the bottom of the crown on the boutique box looks a little more full.

The attached pictures are of the eBay box in question. Outside of these two differences, the boxes/pillow color, texture, and even smell are identical as far as I can tell.

The eBay watch successfully passed the "Authenticator" inspection, but eBay wasn't very clear when I called as to what constitutes an "inspection."

I'm going to schedule an appointment with the Rolex Service Center to have them authenticate the watch itself, but I don't feel good about potentially being sold a fake box with a genuine Rolex.

Thank you for your help and consideration!

The coronet looks sloppy and the font looks wrong.
OP, can you post a picture from the side of the pillow that comes with the box. I would like to see how the stitching comes together.

shouldn't you be showing pictures of the watch instead of the box?

Agree, would like to see watch also. However, I have seen lots of fake boxes and where they really get wrong is the pillow, it is sloppy stiching so I hope the OP can do that also. I think all our alarm bells go off when we hear about an eBay purchase.

A 126710 sounds too new not to have a box. I'm sure you have a warranty card. I hope your RSC appt will be soon and works in your favor. Keep posted as all here will be hoping to hear good news.

First things first. Let's figure out if this $100 box is real. Then we'll tackle the minor details.

haha. That's funny! I totally see and agree with what's most important to keep in perspective. Just trying to get a better sense of things and learn more. In my head, I have an answer to authenticating the watch via the RSC, but wasn't sure if they'd also authenticate the box. But again, I totally get what's most important.

LOL
The box looks suspect to me.
Thats said, its got little relevance on the watch.
Many resellers buy "2nd hand" boxes to display the watches.

I would love to hear id the new eBay "authentication experts" passed a fake watch.

From the pretty bad pictures, the box looks fine to me. I'm not sure about the big black question mark on it....

As an update: I went to the RSC today and they gave me the thumbs up! Everything with the watch thankfully checked out.

THANK YOU all for the help in this new process!

excellent
eBay 'authentication' process seems quite secret.
But it is a firm guarantee
Enjoy your watch
