Seiko GS / JLC Reverso

If anyone saw my other thread I am making a decision on a new piece. I am leaning heavily towards either a Reverso (large small seconds, possibly tribute also) or SBGM221/SBGA407

thing is I don't know too much about Seiko and I know almost nothing about the spring drive. Is it just an auto, admittedly I didn't take the time to really read all the lit on Seiko site. Interested in opinions on these in biz casual situation and movement. Really comparing the 2 seikos

Spring drive uses a mechanical barrel to power a quartz instead of a balance spring. So you don’t need a battery.

GS dress watches are often equipped with their more traditional movements as well.

Reverso are pretty classic and are unique. Cant really compare a Reverso to a GS dress watch. You either want a rectangular, reverse case Watch or a traditional shape watch.

I posted my Reverso on the other forum. Have tried on the 221 and it’s attractive. Very different watches. Tough call. Reverso is more unique.

all three offerings are amazing... you can not go wrong with any of them. the two two one is the least expensive and has the most rewarding vintage vibe of nearly any piece Ive owned. it's an amazing watch.

Can't go wrong with either. What you'll notice with GS is the level of detail. It beats JLC by a mile. In fact, the level of attention to GS dials stopped me from purchasing a reverso.

I bought a Reverso 85th Duo last year and looking to get the SBGW231 this year. Why not both?

Agreed on this one - I have the SBGE257 and also looking to add a duo face to my collection this year.

The Reverso is a classic and should be high on the list for any collector. It is not really comparable to the GS watches the OP is looking at and even those are quite different.

If I was looking at those watches I would get the JLC for dress watch duty and the GS GMT for travel. Even with that in mind I looked at the 221 before I bought my BB GMT. Ultimately the BB GMT won out due to the WR and the bezel.

That’s very true however I consider the Reverso Duo to be more of a hybrid. It’s got the roots of being a ‘sport’ but can also be a dress watch.
