Two old monsters that I still love
We all know the love of bigger watches have died down, but I still like a couple. Just added this 5002 (7 day auto) but I thought it was a good juxtaposition between the 368 (manual 8 day). As you may know I also love power reserve indicators and of course long power reserves

Thanks Rosco; I had pined for a BP forever, but hadn’t settled on which one. I finally settled on the OG and was surprised how much I liked the dial in the metal (never seen before buying but I always knew I like the PR indicator and the framed date window). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

5002 is my favorite BP ref, and IMO the most classic version. Congrats!

My favorite type of watch. May I know how long you have had them? I ask because I got those brands/models many years ago and had not looked at them until last year. They seemed huge and unwearable when I got them, but now they seem normal. I wonder if you have had the same experience. Enjoy!

Well... I have been eying the 5002 for over 10 years! Found an email talking to a seller back then. I have had the 368 for about 5 years; wanted one since it came out in 2011 but it couldn’t afford the list price. I always thought the 368 was my perfect Panerai; 8 day PR, PR indicator on the back, titanium, gold hands, tobacco sandwich dial, green lume, (so called “mint chip”), domed sapphire, and since it was 47mm, liked how it was destro. I was always reluctant to buy it without trying it on since I wasn’t sure if I could pull it off. I found myself wearing my 233 dot only on the weekends, so I thought a 368 could be a good upgrade since I didn’t need the date function. I was lucky that my friend came across one and knew it would be a good fit so he sent it to me and it was a match made in heaven. Again the BP is a large watch, and I was always worried that the crown would be too big and dig into my wrist, but I tried other models in the ADs and it seemed I could it pull it off. I have tried many BPs, but always liked the dial of the original 5002, as I like the “9”, the PR indicator, the hands and I like the metalized frame window. The BP was acquired in the past month when I came across a good example and jumped on it. I never saw one in the metal until I purchased it and wasn’t disappointed. The rest of my collection is around the 42mm and below, but these two are really fun pieces. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I love both of those. Especially the 5002.
I actually just purchased a single owner, fish crown 5002. It should arrive Saturday. I've been looking for the perfect example for 2-3 years now and finally found it. |
