Should I ‘Fix’ This?

I have a GMTII LN with a stick dial. Great watch but for whatever reason it came from Rolex with blue Chromalight handset rather than green Superluminova. It’s a 2008-2009 V-serial. Part of me doesn’t care and the other part doesn’t care that much either. Curious to know what you would do?

Cheers

No I’m not the original owner. RSC has no record of any service on it. Also had my AD watchmaker look it over. He said he’s seen a few mixups like this in the past so not unheard of.

Sounds like you don’t care.

I’ve seen this a couple times. Up to you really. I’d leave as is.

live with it.

I'm Liking the mix up, How long did it take for you to notice it? personally, I'd run it past Rolex and ask them to advise as to their thoughts, errors do happen but surprised it happened at this level.

What level is that? Rolex level? Don’t forget that they are still mass produced, despite their scarcity in the AD display cases. Plenty of examples of modern Rolex errors on the forum.

Should I ‘Fix’ This?

After more than 15 years with my green lume Explorer, I’d love to have a blue lume. Therefore, I’d ask to replace (if possible under warranty, ay no cost or similar) the dial.

Lume is important for me, since I wear my watch during the night.

Should I ‘Fix’ This?

My watchmaker thought it was no big deal in other words why mess with it. I sort of like the change up. I noticed it not long after I got it, I knew 100% it was genuine and an error of sorts. I’d read about this kind of thing but never seen it until I got this.

It’s perfect as eventually my son may ask me for it when he’s a man. He was born in 2009.

The hands must have been replaced at some point. A V serial was before the blue lume. Since RAC has no records it must have been swapped elsewhere.

Most likely. I love how people just assume Rolex was responsible for a “mix up.”

It’s a used watch... and apparently not original.

I’m pretty sure blue lume didn’t hit the 116710 until after V serial. I want to say like late G or random.

The hands were changed at some stage. If I knew the new hands were genuine Rolex I would not have a problem. If I were not sure they were genuine Rolex I would have them changed for originals. It's fine if you bought it new from an A.D ( direct and unaltered from Rolex) but if you decide to sell or trade in the future the potential buyer may not be so convinced of it's authenticity. I would get if sorted now and be finished with the potential concern.

Good points. I thought about getting a proper handset just in case.

Im no expert but it would alert me if i was looking to purchase a miss matched dial/handset.
If you have concerns now, put it to bed and change it worries over.
