First post and my 16800 matte dial

Hello,

I'm making my first post here tonight. My name is Gerard. I picked up my first Submariner last week. I bought it from a friend. I just want to say hello and show you the 16800. This piece keeps superb time and I am happy to own it. I hope the photo is okay, as I made it at work using my G1 phone. I'll be making quality shots with a true camera another time.
For now I just hope you like my Rolex! Thanks!

Gerard

Polo, nevermind wasting your time. I found the "ignore" feature here and added you on it. Wow, that was a first ever I had to do that on any forum! Anyway, thanks again for the nice comments everyone else.

You just got points for that remark. You have two choices:

1. Apologize.

2. Say goodbye.

The choice is yours.

Sweet looking 16800! You have the best of both worlds, the beauty of a matte dial, with the dependability and ruggedness of a sapphire crystal! Enjoy it!

Update

Hi everyone,

I want to share that I lucked out today and found genuine, unused Rolex 3035tritium hands for my 16800. My photo doesn't show it but it currently has newer SLN hands in place. I can't wait to put these on and complete the watch! I bought all hands the watch parts house had in their old stock, which was three sets One never knows when they are needed, and I believe having genuine tritium hands back on the sub just increased its value as far as collectibility, right?

Thanks for reading,
Gerard

Yes, you were both lucky... and smart. Well done! That is a truly nice 16800 you have. Drop me a PM if you grow tired of it ;-)

Best,

A

Thanks Doc and A,

After learning some of the prices asked for these same hands, I am lucky!
I never knew they were so expensive until I started asking around the forums for them.
I may have to sell one set to help off set the price I paid. Pricey devils!

I forgot to ask

once I get the white gold framed SLN Rolex hands off the 16800 , are they worth reselling? I need to recover some of the cash I put out for the original tritium hands.

Thanks!
