I just sent my GMT II to Bob Ridley via UPS overnight insured and I'm very nervous.

I think he is nervous just about the shipping of the watch. I was always a little worried at first but you get used to it after a few times.

Nervous about it not getting there. No I don't trust any shipper. Eventhough it's insured, theres nothing preventing a UPS employee from removing watch from box and Mr Ridley getting an empty box. maybe I'm just paranoid.

Well theres really no way for some guy to know whats in there they couldn't care less, anyways its insured so don't worry your cool.

they wouldn't insure it unless I declared the contents. so they know what it is. (at least at this end)

Years ago I was an IT manager for a major company. We had an agreement with a parcel company to pick up broken laptops from our business travelers and overnight them to a repair site for repair and next-day return. It was very interesting that none got lost going to the repair shop. The only ones ever lost were on the return trip. Humm.....

Just dont ship them via Fedex.... Even if you declare the contents and pay for the insurance they will not pay a claim for watches or jewelry.

Registered mail is the recommended method by the Rolex service centers. Probably because no one knows what's in the box. You just declare the value and get insured accordingly. Mine was sent to the Dallas RSC and no problems. I believe they return the watch same way.

UPS loses/damages packages all the time. I've had numerous items destroyed by UPS, and filed several claims. Their claims agents, incidentally, will never give out their phone number. They call you - you can't call them.

Both Rolex and Patek Phillipe specifically recommend USPS Registered Mail when shipping watches to their service centers.

I sent my Explorer II to the Dallas RSC yesterday via UPS Overnight. Tracked the package and it was delivered this morning.

Bob Ridley is a recommended watchmaker who can service Rolexes (as well as other watches, obviously).

In the future, don't use UPS or Fedex for shipping watches. Not really sure why people like to do so....good luck if you ever need to file a claim on a watch.
