White Dial Sky Dweller

For those of you who own, have owned or have seen a white dial steel or TT Sky Dweller, I am interested in your thoughts about the dial. I have not seen one in person but am considering buying one gray market. From videos and pictures, it seems to have a finish that looks almost pearlescent.

I'd be grateful for your views and comments about what attracted you to the white dial.

Thanks!

It isn’t white like the Explorer II. The word I’d use, maybe not perfect, is it’s “creamy”, kind of an off-white. It looks great IMO.

I agree. I turned down blue for white dial.

The white dial is very striking indeed. I’d recommend without hesitation. I sold mine to my mate as I managed to get hold of a blue dial and blue has always been my favourite colour - my wife thinks I made the wrong decision as the white sky is her favourite Rolex.

I'd have to say the wife is right! Always wanted the blue one as well (Rolex sunburst blue dials are amazing...) but after seeing the white one, it became my favourite watch!

I originally wanted the black, but my AD had the white come in. Once I saw it in person the rest was history. It has an egg shell/creamy color to it, but 24 disc in the center is pure white. I absolutely love it and it’s a refreshing dial compared to all the other darker offers from Rolex.

No

My most worn watch by a mile.

White to almost silver sometimes. Best dial for the steel range in my opinion.

Yes, pearlescent, can take a different look depending at the angle and light.

Yeah, that would be a pretty accurate description, kind of flat white too.

Remove the "follow the crowd" mentality that pushes the hype of the Blue dial higher, and the white dial is easily the best looking SS Skydweller.
You have to see it in person to understand what am saying.
It is so beautiful and Classy.

The blue is beautiful but for me the white in the Sky Dweller is just striking. I plan to add a bluesy sub at some point so that will tick the blue dial box.

Hello guys. I have been researching watches rolex's and ap's. The question i have is about bracelets. I see for example presidents with leather bracelets are like 6k, but lets say daytonas or skydwellers with leather band is almost the same as with the metal. I noticed that with royal oaks too, some leather ones go as much as metal bracelet. My friend said metal ones scratch, and i am leaning more to leather.

here is some with non metal straps

ROLEX COSMOGRAPH DAYTONA

Rolex Sky Dweller 18k White Gold Black Dial Mens Watch 326139 Box Card -swiss watch website

thanks for some help, i want to understand why some leather ones cost as much as metal ones. I have watched many roman sharf vids on youtube.

I believe what you are seeing is that the white gold ones on strap are similar in price to the stainless steel models on bracelets. That is obviously because of the price of the metal and also the fact that some gold models can be had at a discount while the stainless ones generally command a premium. That does weird things with the prices when you do research.

Be careful when you look at the models. The white gold often looks like stainless so you will get confused.

Obviously a full gold bracelet will be much higher than the similar looking model in steel.

Good luck in your search!

I had the white dial and sold it and bought the blue. While I prefer the blue (beautiful dial in the sun), the white is striking and probably easier to read. I don't think you can go wrong with white, black or blue. Terrific watch, especially for travel.

326933 owner <white dial Rolesor> here.
There are three "dial parts." The main outer dial, a smaller circular inner section, and the 24 hour dial sandwiched between the two.
Lighting angle make the dial pieces reflect in nice shades of white, to creamy white, to an almost silvery brownish. Very subtle tint changes, but a really outstanding effect. You have to see it, as it is difficult to describe.
Usually the two main dial sections reflect the same, with the 24 hour dial different. Then as the lighting angles change, the tints change again, only in reverse. It is almost mesmerizing. It is a slowly changing and great thing to see.
I had the opportunity to see the white one when I was looking to pick up a black one.
Upon seeing the white one, I immediately put the black one down and whipped out my checkbook to purchase the white one. It became the FAVORITE of all my watches.
"Pearlescent" is a decent description.
'BrazenC5" 's post shows somewhat how it appears.
Rolex knows how to do dials.

Obviously it's all just personal preference. I have seen the White, but waited 2 years for the blue. Now I have it I absolutely love the colour and how it seems to change, even has a light lilac look sometimes. I definitely do not spend that amount of money just because it's hyped up, I got it cos I love the colour and it gives me immense pleasure to wear and admire. Sure some people do prefer white, and black, that's why they make different colours. Just get the one YOU love, even if you have to wait. It's worth it..

Completely agree and thanks for your feedback. The blue dial Sky Dweller is stunning and you really can’t go wrong. Like you said, get what you love. I am looking to build up the Rolex collection. I have a black GMT 116710LN and have a Deep Sea JC version on order with an AD. Looking to add a bluesy sub at some point and the white dial Sky Dweller will fit in nicely.

So yes there are two things to consider.

The finish is as you say, a very fine pearlescent texture. This means it catches and reflects the light in different ways depending on conditions, time of day etc. This finish tends to put a silvery look to the dial in bright direct light.

The actual colour is a slightly creamy white. Close to Little Greene Slaked Lime (105) if you want to google that and have a calibrated screen :)

Together with the white gold bezel it's a very classy look indeed.

As mentioned the 24 hour subdial is flat bright white.

I went for the TT black dial, but if I was going for SS it would have to be white dial.

I cannot see myself wearing the skydweller . I think it’s a sharp looking watch just not my style . But of all the variants in my opinion the white dial looks best .

It would be nice if my AD would get any one of these I could actually buy. I told them I would take any SKY D, any dial, SS or TT and two years later, nothing so far.

Exactly. That’s why I am probably going gray. SS white seems to be going for a “reasonable” premium over list and the TT only slightly above. And no tax. This isn’t about settling either. I absolutely love the Sky Dweller.

Love the white. It reminds me of more of a "bone" color. White in some lighting, more of a cream in others.

I was undecided between white and blue, and asked be forum for some advice earlier. Check my post history for a thread with a ton of pictures of the white dial which helped me make up my mind.

The dial is absolutely incredible, and can change from white to off-white to silver depending on the light. I also find the white to be very versatile and will definitely be using it as a dresser watch (when I need to dress up again haha).
