Odd ball questions

Hello all,

Quick couple of questions. Probably just to ease my concerns more than anything really.

I never paid attention really to the warranty card on my watch when I purchased it, but it was purchased in Oct 2018 which should entitle it to the 5 year warranty, however my card states 2 years. I know it’s not uncommon for Rolex dealers to have older cards, or potentially a watch sitting somewhere in the back for some time. My question although possibly a silly one is, will this effect the warranty coverage when it’s sent in for repairs under warranty?

The second part of it is. I was just winding my watch and screwed the crown back down, and somehow it cross threaded it (I believe). Not sure how really. I didn’t put any more than normal force winding it down, but somehow when I tried to unscrew it again and re set it on the threads it some how seems to have unscrewed the crown tube. Would this be something possibly covered under warranty or will Rolex try and write this up as abuse? I didn’t do anything strange with it, so I feel it should be under warranty, but my feelings and reality may be two separate things. I’m thinking that maybe the crown tube was already loose and led to this kerfuffle as well?

I don’t know. Like I said probably a couple of silly questions, but just wanted to seek some insight.

Thanks everyone

Would imagine warranty should cover that defect. Did the watch was new on 2018 and purchased from Rolex AD?

Thanks. That’s kind of my thought as well. I bought it second hand but it was bought from an authorized AD. They dated the card as 2018, but the card also states 2 year warranty so it doesn’t really add up.

Just a pic for reference as well. Really not sure how this happened unless there was something already wrong.

Taking it to my AD here today to see what they say about it all.

Good chance that they will say you abused it in the two years you owned it

I was kind of afraid they might. I really hadn’t done anything odd to it is the unfortunate part. Thanks for the insight.

Was the watch sold as new in 2018 by an Authorized Rolex Dealer? If not, as a preowned watch it may have been originally sold three years ago to its first owner, leaving two years remaining. Also, a two year warranty is given when a watch is serviced by an authorized Rolex service agency.

Yes. That’s the kind of oddball part. It has the original AD name and all printed on the card and the sales date as 10/2018 but is a 2 year warranty card.
