There are a lot of good watchmakers who can do an excellent job of clean-up and servicing your vintage piece.
If you truly want a proper restoration, then the flock of specialists thins dramatically. Watchmakers International (Bob Ridley) in Texas has a reputation for top quality restoration work and knows what can, and cannot, be done to maintain vintage value and looks.

Sorry guys, I get busy and forget to check in here sometimes.
I responded to this last night and there were other bits to the thread as well that because of the glitch have disappeared...:-/ It was a pleasure to get Jack's watch up and running again after so many years! I was able to polish out some rather nasty gouges in the original crystal. I love these original profile plexis and they are impossible to source and fit now. This one has some slight crazing still in the light but not noticeable without a loupe and it's not really going to be testable waterproof with the Super Oyster anyway. I was able to remove a broken case screw and one very rusty one almost without a trace. Put in 2 new screws and one new case retainer and it's mounted solid again. Watch is running well. Love putting these back on the road. |
