Michael Young type repair in USA?
Hello,
I have a 25 year old explorer 2 that is an old rattle trap and I heard great things about the service Michael Young provides. I communicated with Michael Young & the pricing is great but I'm not excited to send my watch out of country. Not because I don't want to spend the money but because I have a feeling that US Customs will call me a few months after I get it back asking to see a receipt for the watch (they perceive) i just bought and imported from HK. *I once bought and imported a rare watch from Austria and received a call from Customs looking for the tax $. I said I had just sent it out for repair and they asked for the original receipt, which of course i did not have - it was a new purchase. Long story I had to send them about $800 in tax $ and if it happens again I don't have the receipt for the Explorer 2 I bought in 1997. So - anyone local in the USA that does the same amazing type of work? Thanks in advance! |

I just received my bracelet back from Michael Young. He repaired my steel Jubilee bracelet in 2013 and it needed repair again. I sent it on March 21st and received it back today, April 19th. When I mailed it, I put that it was watch band "returned for repair" and had no issues with customs either way.
The repair was a little bit more because he had to replace some parts, but overall I am very happy. |

What type of service are you thinking of having done? If it is to tighten up your bracelet then simply send him the bracelet. I did this for my two-tone bracelet on my 1996 submariner and he did an incredible job and there were no “hidden” customs costs.

As mentioned above Michael young + more recently
Rolliworks have produced some incredible results posted by members here. Would be interested to know for future reference if there’s any such company in the UK for future reference if anyone knows. |

I've reached out to Michael Young, via his link on their site, to repair my 35 year old bracelet on my Seadweller but he never replies. Maybe I should call?

Rolliworks receives excellent praise and rightly so from the photos I’ve seen here on the forum. I will be sending my wife’s DJ to them soon.
