James Cameron
Evening all.
I bought a dj41 as a gift for one of our employees, his 10 year work anniversary. My usual AD (WOS)didn’t have any in stock so I contacted a different AD not too far away (Mappin and Webb). He had a DJ coming in the following week (last week), send me the link to pay online and was awaiting a collection day. In the meantime he sent me a WhatsApp asking if I’d like a James Cameron SD, which I said yes too, again paid online and collected them both at the same time last week. It seemed a bit strange, to be offered a SS sports model with only one watch history (the DJ) from that store, although I’ve made multiple purchases from WOS which is the same group. Are these not considered a ‘hot’ sports watch? I’ve always fancied one so I naturally bit his hand off. |

Wos is the worse!!!
You want you to purchase watches that you don’t even want. I don’t play those games no more. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The DSSD blue dial is selling well over retail. Don’t flip it. It’s a great watch.

Happens every single day — even to new customers with no purchase history.

Hi, I'm in the UK and it took just under a year (last August) to get the JC DSSD. That was with purchase history too from Mappin & Webb. Absolutely love it even though its a beast. Great pick up.
It looks like they may have reached the end of the 'list' and you we're in the right place at the right time. As the stores are currently closed, it's a sale they may not have made. Who knows. |

Exactly and its a fact that Rolex sells around 800000 plus watches each year so if these are only sold to todays perceived AD relationship buyers and high roll buyers sure must be a lot of them around each year.

Fact. It is how I got mine. First time buyer. Was in looking and they didn’t have much in the case. Talked for a while, looked at some other brands and then walked back to the Rolex case. Again started telling her I really wanted that watch. After about 30 minutes the lady said to me hold on a minute. Walks to the back and get it out of the safe. Actually paid less than MSRP but that was about 2 years ago, Honestly they just wanted to know I wasn’t a flipper.

I think you need to get a perfect fit, not too lose, not too tight. Every new watch I've purchased feels weird to begin with. I remember my sub felt mildly uncomfortable to start with which I wasn't expecting. Two weeks later, it was the most comfortable watch I owned. |

Watches of Switzerland do cop some criticism but I have to say that they have been brilliant, I have never had an issue with Mappin and Webb, bought my watches as and when I wanted them, no games, no hoops to jump through, no bundles to buy. I just went in shopped for what I wanted and now own the watches I want, no lengthy wait times as the longest wait was 3 weeks.
As for the JC well it is a big big watch, it is certainly a presence on the wrist and isn't for everyone, take your time deciding OP, let's hope it fits comfortably and you keep it.

If you really are into JC you should buy the 1st generation DSSD black dial because that’s the one he was wearing going down in the Mariana trench

Congrats on the JC! It's huge but surprisingly wears very comfortable on the wrist. Try it on for a few hours. It "disappears" after a while

Congratulations and enjoy the watch. I seem to be waiting much longer for a call on a JC from my AD. Still can't complain they came up trumps for me last year on a couple that i wanted. Patience needed! |

My daily beater is a Sky dweller, that felt huge when I first got it, maybe I need to give it a few days wrist time like you say

Congrats to your employee for their 10 year, and to you for getting them an awesome gift. Also congrats on the JC.
I think if you can pull off the skyD you'll be good with the JC. I actually feel it wears smaller given the smaller size of the dial relative to the bezel on the JC vs. SkyD. |
