Considering to trade my 233 with the new Sub date 126610LN
After selling my hulk, my black ceramic gmt and polar explorer II, I started missing the Rolex legacy. Now there is an opportunity to trade my pam233 with the new 126610 LN. Not a good deal but good things have a price.. Or the other opportunity is selling my pam233 and getting into the waiting list at the AD and getting the sub at the msrp. But ad says he doesn't know the exact waiting period. I am loving my pam but I have to let it go to get the new sub. And as some of you know that I have a 25 oem pam strap collection.. What do you think? I know this is the rolex forum but pam233 is a real classic. I would like to hear your thoughts.. thank you..

When something comes along you want more, then do it. I sold my Pam 233 recently.

I say if you want the sub, go for it. You can always pick up another Pam and still use your straps.

I don't really think that I want the sub more than my pam233 because the pam is much more attractive but I have to live on with only one watch and that watch must be iconic and must carry me a life long time.. and I think it is not the pam. The holding of its value and the durability of rolex makes me want it once again.. I know after a time I will get bored of the sub (because in the past I got bored of the gmt's pcls and the green dial of hulk) and will miss changing the straps off my pam but the reasons I mentioned above makes me go back to Rolex once again...

Keep the Pam, sounds like you enjoy it more than the sub. Screw the value retention and scarcity BS, life is short so why spend it wearing your second choice?

I would definitely not do it. The 233 is such an amazing classic Panerai. I know quite few of my friends who sold it and regretted it afterwards. Love my dot dial pam233. I would not replace it for the new sub.

I would say the logo base 000 is a fine model. It is lower in price than others, but is the essence of the brand. I prefer it over all others, except the 232!

That’s a hard choice. I have a 233 as well. I would not make the trade; I would keep the 233.
The sub is a nice swatch though. Thinner, so easier to fit under a cuff, and just as durable. Cleaner dial, but the PAM hits the right spot for me. Plus, I am not really a bracelet guy, and subs look best on a bracelet. |

Can't go wrong with Sub at AD.

Ooof, don’t know about this one. I think this could lead to regrets...the 000 is really nice, but when you’ve been used to that beautiful dome plus 8-day manual, it might seem like a “second choice”.
The 233 is one of the best. I wouldn’t trade it for “just” a black Sub Date. Consider perhaps picking up a nice Seiko diver to rotated with the 233? |

I wouldn't do it. The sub is a great watch, no doubt. The 233 is too cool. Dome crystal, 8 day movement and it doesn't look like every other black dial watch out there. Don't forget your awesome strap collection too

My 233 gets more wrist time than my Rolex sport watches. If you like Panerai at all then keep the 233.

Dont you have a massive strap collection for the PAM?? You will miss the 233. I would recommend staying put and adding when you can

I personally wouldn’t as I think the 233 is much more interesting than the sub.

I personally wouldn't, especially if your 233 is the dot dial. It seems like you really enjoy your Pam since you have a massive strap collection. I would go with what I love now and not worry too much about what may happen in the future.

Tough call, a sub is a sub. You have a great collection of straps and the 233 is a fantastic piece. I'd only do it if I had a chance to get the sub at retail from AD.

Keep and wear what YOU like and do not concern yourself with value retention or what people say. Just my thoughts.

They are so different that it's really tough to compare these two watches. The sub seems like a better one and only, but the 233 is definitely more special, in the uniqueness perspective. Could another black dialed diver at a lower price point scratch the itch for the sub? Black bay comes to mind.

I would sell 20 of the 25 straps and wait for sub at AD to lessen the $$$ out of pocket

233 “dot” dial is series I, J, or K... all series after are the “pm/am” dial. The dot uses an open aperture somewhat that goes to full circle by 9am? And goes Completely black by 9pm?... the pm/am dial used a 24 hr hand like another gmt hand displaying local time. Not a great picture of the “dot” as it is under the seconds hand |

Sounds to me like the Pam is what you enjoy. To keep a watch because it holds value is not a good reason in my opinion. The 233 is a classic.

You bought over 25 OEM straps to notice that for the reason of "value retention" you do prefer the Submariner? It sounds quite strange man...
