WG Daytona

Since there’s no way for me to get the SS Daytona at retail, I was leaning towards the OF white or yellow gold. However wife convinced me and agreed to pay half of this WG Daytona diamond dial!

Early Jan 2021, went to an AD just looking around. I asked about getting on a list for any Daytona but they told me there’s a long wait. Once my wife bought a $20k lady datejust, all of a sudden I was offered to be on a waitlist(number 2)for this WG DAYTONA diamond dial. But I really wanted the Daytona blue dial (they said I can be on waitlist...#3).

Anyway, I put a certain percentage to show I’m serious. TWO weeks later I get a call saying my Daytona is ready! Not complaining, but just shocked how fast I got my watch (by the end of Jan 2021). Loving it!!!

Congratulations!!! I've noticed that higher end watches tend to appear much faster than the lower end ones; there's not quite the feeding frenzy in the deeper waters as there is in the shallows (so to speak). The watch looks great; it's a thing of beauty!!!

Congratulations on a beautiful watch and it's great that it came so soon. I really like all the Daytona designs. There is so much variety and the watch wears so well.

HogwldFLTR thank you. I think you’re right about the higher end watches! After having and using it everyday in the past two weeks, I have no more regrets or not looking back for the blue dial daytona. My only (minor) complaint is that it can get heavy on the wrist after awhile. My datejust is way more comfy! Lol.

I actually have the WG Daytona so I’m more than qualified. Do you have any PM pieces? Or should you live along?

In my limited experience, one can be #3 on the list and still get the watch. Not everyone who puts their name on a list is financially prepared to immediately buy a $45,000 watch when it becomes available.

OP, congrats, it's a beauty!

No need. It is blindingly obvious that the watch is WG. That configuration is only available in WG. Beautiful piece that.

According to 3 ADs I’ve visited recently, the WG blue dial is more popular than the one I got. 2-3 years ago it was also easier to get the OF Daytona but not anymore.

Really :/.

Well the grey market premium isn’t much so if an AD can’t deliver on time I guess I’m going grey.

I tried a couple of TT daytona with different dials in the past, but it didn’t work out, I think it was my skin tone that didn’t go well with yellow gold. Lol. Love the Daytona also, later (3-5 years from now ) I’m planning to get a OF Daytona. Hopefully it’s not that expensive by that time. Seems like price is increasing every year.
